Interesting to watch the Democrats, establishment and base, fall in line behind Kamala. Makes sense. She won all those primary elections too, folks, and all that campaign cash is hers as much as it was Joe Biden's.

Chris Christie says Harris can make this a very close election if she works it right. I disagree. There's going to be nothing close about it at all. Harris will crush Trump like stomping on a cockroach.

Trump and his acolytes know it, too.

Nothing in Joe Biden's career became him like the leaving it.

I love your optimism! I wish I was as sure as you and Trump are about Harris winning. Trump was apparently “freaking out” on Truth Social last night.

Well, I'm probably overly optimistic but here's my thinking. Few who voted against Tump in 2020 will vote for him now. The biggest hurdle Biden faced was his age. No longer an issue. Harris has great name recognition and is strongly identified as supporting reproductive rights. Harris doesn’t scare people. Harris is generating some actual enthusiasm right now. Harris, along with Biden, won all those primary elections when it was pretty clear she could end up being President by succession. Finally, the Party is coalescing around her quickly.

Even a casual read of his (and their) reaction would make this a reasonable inference. They sound scared.

This entire election is about Democratic turnout. MAGA is what it is. When Democrats didn't turn out in 2016, Trump squeaked in via a quirky EC. That was, obviously not the case in 2020. Biden was giving people a bad feeling, and that was hurting voter enthusiasm. Harris might be able to change that dynamic.

Again, polling of Latinos and African-Americans suggests otherwise.

I think the reason that I'm not as optimistic probably has a lot to do with my wife's position. She is not interested in politics. Never watches MSNBC or Fox or anything like that. She watches a half hour of national news most days and watches local news and Taiwanese news. She voted for Trump in 2016 and for Biden in 2020. She didn't vote for Trump in 2020 because he messed up on the pandemic response really bad. There is no way she would vote for Biden this election because of Biden's age. She likes the stuff Trump says about a lot of things and might vote for him in November. I guess the thought is that he messed up the pandemic but there is no more pandemic and so he's an option again. So I'm not so sure about the idea that people that voted against Trump in 2020 will do the same in 2024.

I do agree with the assertion though that getting out the Democratic vote in November will be the key.

I think Harris is closer to the squad than Pr. Biden.
This may be not that good for the more center or concervative democrats.
Trump would have done better if selected a woman such as Nikie H as running mate.
I'm bad in predicting election outcome, but there is a chance we will see a repeat of 2016.
I think a lot of people see the American Dream getting further away
    In the last few years.

It is depressing to think of having to choose between Harris and Trump. So irritating that parties can't choose better candidates.

You are right that the slide continues.

The understanding by many is that Musk said he'd donate $45 million per month to the Trump campaign (actually to his PAC) if Trump picked JD Vance for his VP. If so that's a pretty strong argument for Vance!

Elon Musk apparently referred to Harris as the DEI candidate. Nice gift to the Democrats!

As to that polling, wait and see. Turning away from Biden is one thing. Turning away from Harris might be a whole different thing.

but why give Trump a chance to royally mess up something else which is exactly what he would do. He is an idiot. A narcissistic idiot.

I get the impression that Harris has enough delegates locked up to win the nomination on the first ballot. The Party is unifying quickly.

Yes. The party brass basically anointed her and then is using discipline to ensure that nobody challenges it. Wasserman-Shultz and some analyst on NPR basically indicated that things have not gone well for the Democratic party when they have had chaotic and raucous conventions. They have generally lost elections. So the idea was to ensure that things were clear and smooth and that appears to be what happened. I would imagine anyone thinking about sticking their head out got it whacked down.

So for better or worse I suspect she will be the nominee. She is generally receiving hagiographic publicity from press. Here and there abroad and domestically there are some questioning her intellect but in general the mainstream press has the hallelujah chorus behind her.

She gets a boost from some because she isn't Donald Trump and they are desperate for somebody other than Donald Trump to win. We will see how it all plays out.

For me it is disappointing that we have two crappy candidates. And it is completely unnecessary that we do.

By default, I will vote for DJT. Was hoping someone of Blinken's character had stepped up and I would have voted for the Democratic candidate.
