There was much speculation, but while no one has ever seen the two online at the same time there is no conclusive proof.

It's still a Clark Kent/Superman thing right now.

 

Appearing online at the same time doesn't necessarily remove suspicion that the two screen names are the same person. There was once a political forum in which heikstheo and forceofthetruth participated. The two joined at about the same time and participated in many of the same debates. Yet there were some who accused me of creating both screen names in order to create a dialog debate between the two. I assure you that I was not forceofthetruth.

 

For those who go back to alt.education.distance, before degreeinfo.com existed, there was always a question about somebody being somebody else, and in many cases they were... Les Snell (proprietor of the fraudulent Monticello University) had at least a half-dozen aliases posting to support all the brilliant things he said. That was mostly solved with degreeinfo, because we have better (though not infallible) abilities to track such things.

Old-timers may remember my favorite, the rampant speculation for a while that Dennis Huber and Steve Levicoff were the same person. Actually, they are friends, and Steve, always the prankster, produced a chart comparing the two: (Apologies, the formatting got completely screwed up in the translation from Google Groups, so I converted it to an image...

 

We believe you. There is as much chance that you were forceofthetruth as there is that you are behind one of the screen names at D.L. Truth. We know for sure that you are not DR ANATIDAE because you don't write IN ALL CAPS LIKE HE DOES. He is either very angry or in need of a remedial class on capitalization and punctuation.

 

Or perhaps his CAPSLOCK key is broken and someone needs to show him how to get it fixed.

 

We don't tolerate sock puppets....anyone who wants to play that game has to make sure their identities post from different IP addresses, which hardly seems worth the trouble.
