I've been talking about this a lot lately here in the forum.

The Republican base is losing touch with reality. The next step is for prime time Fox News to start pushing QANON conspiracy theories. I hope it doesn't happen but will not be surprised if it does.

To many Americans, there is no credibility with main stream media.
Hence their drop in ratings and market share.
True journalists, in smaller media, are gaining share and credibility.
And yes fake ones are plenty out there as well.
Its sad that one has to go to foreign news source to see full footage of events that the main stream media is under reporting or distorting in favor of the groups they support.
Like the Antifa beating up peaceful protesters and reporters in LA on Saturday.
For complete footage of how the Antifa was beating up peaceful protesters and reporters is available on many foreign news networks.

    Yes, the terrifying Antifa...

Domestic terrorism data shows right-wing violence on the rise - Washington Post

To be clear: left-wing wannabe revolutionaries are completely nuts. I'd say the biggest threat from them to the country is how their less-insane "intellectual" peers harm progressive cause by coming up with stupid-ass slogans like "defund the police".

Personally I loathe the sensationalism which many news outlets emphasize and the Op/Ed shows which attempt to portray themselves as news shows.

For me, many (not you Fox), of the main stream media news outlets still have credibility. The key to that is their accountability. Bloomberg, Wash Post, LA Times, Atlanta Journal Constitution, Detroit News/Free Press, Economist, The Atlantic, all make mistakes at times but they also hold themselves accountable. Granted there’s one glaring example with AJC of that not happening..

That's because it's what they chose to believe, not because it is a reasonable thing.

I agree, although that doesn't mean it's unreasonable to take what mainstream media outlets say with a very large grain of salt.

I don't fully trust MSM myself. Neither "conservative" nor "liberal". Even on normally-neutral sites, there can be quite biased information. There's just such a rush to get stories out so that they can make money off of the ad revenue that there's not as much incentive these days for actual fact-checking.

Mediabiasfactcheck.com does a very good job rating two aspects for each media site, political bias and truthfulness. Printed material is generally better because it goes through an editorial process which helps for the truthfulness aspect. The problem with the cable news shows is that they have guests on and there is no real editing process possible. So shows on CNN, MSNBC, and Fox that have a host and guests generally have a lower truthfulness rating when compared to printed material. Watching these kind of shows is still okay in my opinion if it's not the only source of news and it is kept in mind that it is more of an affirmative and entertaining exercise than an informative activity.

Checking different sources on Mediabiasfactcheck.com they rate media NBC, CBS, and ABC all about the same. They are rated as slightly left biased and fairly truthful. Better on the Truthfulness scale are top notch printed media like Washington Post, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, etc.. Fox, MSNBC, and CNN are rated similarly (with Fox being on the right and CNN/MSNBC on the left) at a lower truthfulness rating than NBC, CBS and ABC.. My personal experience is that CNN and Fox printed material is pretty good. Better than their shows but not as truthful as top-notch printed media.

Check national polling on almost any major issue and you'll find that America, as a whole is "slightly left biased." There is a whole political party dedicated to making you believe this is not so. But it is.

Absolutely. if you just look at the party affiliation percentages of Democrat versus Republican, there are more Democrats than Republicans.

    24% Republican
    44% Independent
    30% Democrat

    https://news.gallup.com/poll/15370/party-affiliation.aspx

Note the gap is slanted a bit more against Republicans right now than the historical numbers. I assume that is the case because of the current Republican leader.

No. I made up some and others came from things I saw in news threads. It took me months to compile, but some were too entertaining to lose.

A neo-Nazi trope. What does that make Fox News? Considering how Newt actually made his name as a fiscal conservative in the 1990ies and is not a Trumpy ideologue, but rather a populist grifter now, what he peddles is designed to appeal to GOP masses. And according to Dr. Newt (PhD in History), what they want is a full-on neo-Nazi conspiracy paranoia. QED.
