I believe I joined this group in 2001 and I decided on Nova Southeastern University in 2003 to pursue my Ed.D. in Organizational Leadership. It has been a long 3.5 years but I got word today that I am done.

Their "applied" dissertation process does not require an oral defense but they make up for that with very very strict form and style guidelines. I completed all coursework in summer of 2005 and spent the rest of the time finalizing my dissertation and going through their format review. It was a great program and I never had a problem with customer service from any department.

My advice to anyone looking at the Fischler School of Education at NSU to pursue an Ed.D. would be:

    1. Get a chair assigned early in the process (2nd semester).
    2. Get a chair that works well with you or one that you can adapt to.
    3. Find a good friend with at least a Masters in English to proof your dissertation as you go.
    4. Hire a professional editor that has worked with Nova (School of Edu.) dissertations once your committee approves the dissertation but before you submit it to the format reviewer. Regarding the editor, find out how many NSU dissertations they have worked with, their success rate, etc. You need someone who is well versed in NSU's format guidelines.

As for is time for a long overdue vacation.

Nice tips for anyone considering NSU!

So after the vacation, what's next? 2nd DR? Rest? Big publications?

Thanks for everyone's support. To answer Geoff's it is.

    1. Give back to God and his mission because he is the one who got me through this.

    2. Become a "support coach" for my wife who has decided to pursue her Ed.D. with Nova.

    3. Spend more time with my two boys who are 2 and 4.

    4. Continue to enrich myself in my job, work on getting published, attend conferences and present at conferences.

Dr. is the first time I have signed off that way. :)
