I have to say yes, I surely would.

Well, it's natural for you to say that, since you always distrusted governmental authorities. It is more interesting to hear it from Bruce, who is an authority. We behold the Trumpean reality-bending field in action.

    P. S. Of course, the guy taking the Fifth is noteworthy because his boss and co-conspirator said many times that only guilty people do it. Then again, he is known to take the Fifth and using other weasely tactics himself, so all we learn is that Trump is a narcissistic habitual liar. In other words, no new information.

Stanislav, would you take the fifth if you were accused by Lavrentiy Beria of anything? (if you could do so)

Yeah, thank you for missing the point. You are such a dependable guy. I'm not saying taking the Fifth is not Cohen's right, or that it's not a reasonable thing to do giving his station as essentially a mob-style legal "fixer". I just point out that by Trump's repeated assertions this makes him guilty. And thanks for joining the American loony Left in demonizing American law enforcement.

I'm not likely to see it, but a good movie by all accounts. A cause of the latest shitstorm in the twisted world that is today's Russia. Previous was "Matilda", apparently a rather boring movie about Tzar Nicolas II's alleged ballerina mistress. People got bound out of shape because it offended the memory of "Saint Nicolas The Royal Passion-bearer" (his actual title in Russian Orthodox Church). Freaks.

What was the name of that other flik, Goodbye Lenin? That was supposed to be good but the most I recall of it is that I sat through it.

Digressing, or further digressing, here's a movie I liked: https://www.amazon.com/No-Mans-Land-Branko-Djuric/dp/B000060MUZ

I especially liked that it was placed before US involvement. I think the only mention of the US was a comment that the Americans were becoming impatient.

Well, not always. I was on the left when I was growing up.

But I don't think you have to be a hidebound libertarian ideologue to recognize that it's not paranoia if they're really out to get you.

Of course. And you are especially justified in thinking that they are "really out to get you" when you know you did something wrong. With things we know like Trump Tower meetup (and spin around it) and Comey firing (and, especially, spin around it), I don't see the way out of concluding this is the case here.

Haven't seen it. But it is a nice point. There's this fiction on the Left that whatever's wrong in the world, US is to blame. This proves that these guys share the same Yankee imperialist conceit with their right-wing counterparts. The locals (and various regional would-be tyrants) in many conflicts have agency and are quite capable to muck things up on their own.
I don't follow Noam Chomsky's work, but was given his book on foreign policy once. Very quickly, it became evident that he makes the case US is always at fault, in impenetrable academese, all the time. This showed me that Chomsky, who is a legitimate genius (see his work in mathematical linguistics) and author of keen insights in "Manufacturing Consent", is an old man who lost it.

Me either. But you don't have to be guilty of something that should be illegal to be in trouble in the U.S. Legislation is so overgrown here that it's been estimate that the average American unwittingly commits three felonies per day. And one of the effects of that is that if they want you... they can probably get you on something. No conspiracy theory required.

Not just on the left. NYC has immigrants from everywhere and many would say "CIA" whenever something blew up somewhere in the world. Except maybe for Eastern Europeans who grew up with an ear for disinformation.

Hoo boy. Also, payments that look like bribes from multiple corporations. Not a good look, for Cohen and Trump both.

The question is, how hard will Trump throw Cohen under the bus? It is not fun to be Trump's loyal minion, not fun at all...
