Excel High School is Regionally Accredited by AdvanED and The North Central Association CASI. The accreditation is recognized by the State and US Deportment of Education.

And just what exactly are AdvanED and CASI?

I think DI should send Rod a double bill for advertising. I notice he hasn't yet answered a pointed question or two of mine in the thread on his other school, Excel College: http://www.degreeinfo.com/business-mba-degrees/43635-opinions-about-new-online-college-state-approval-but-no-accreditation-%5Byet%5D-3.html

Rod should also learn to spell. AdvancED is here: What Is Accreditation? | AdvancED

CASI is explained in this writeup from AdvancED:

AdvancED is dedicated to advancing excellence in education worldwide. The North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI), Northwest Accreditation Commission (NWAC), and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI) are accreditation divisions of AdvancED.

As always, Ted, glad to be of serfdom -- I mean service.

Many Public High schools in USA are accredited by AdvancED SACS CASI, NCA CASI etc.
This is recognized form of regional accreditation of schools and school districts.
Especially if these are blue ribbon schools.
Usually means high % acceptance to really good universities.

My relative is a Sr at Stanford University on full tuition there, he graduated 5th best in his AdvancED accredited Public high school.

Some of his High school classmates went to top tier Universities in USA.
Some to well respected universities and state schools.

Excel High School is a State recognized regionally accredited High School. Excel High School is accredited by AdvancED the parent organization for the North Central Association CASI, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools CASI and Northwest Accrediting Commission - agencies recognized by the State Department of Education.

Excel High School is Regionally accredited by AdvancED the parent organization for North Central Association CASI, Southern Association of Colleges and Schoool and the Northwest Accrediting Commission; which like all public schools, is fully recognized by all colleges, jobs, universities and the US Military. Yes, Excel High School is legitimately RA accredited.

During our next accreditation visit, Excel High School is pursuing systems/district accreditation with our accreditor. If the Excel school system achieves this milestone, Excel will be only the second regionally accredited online high school to earn this level of accreditation. This is the level of accreditation that public school districts have in place to ensure that quality standards are met system wide. This level of accreditation will allow Excel to better fulfill our purpose, and to serve a more diverse population with specific education programs, designed to meet the unique needs of our students.

Excel Education Systems, Excel High School, Northgate Academy, et. al. has been granted candidacy status for District Accreditation as an online school district. District accreditation via AdvancED SACS/NCA/NWAC will extend to all Excel district schools. Excel will be only the second fully online school district to become regionally accredited.

Excel Education Systems Receives Candidate Status for Corporate Systems Accreditation with AdvancED

Excel High School has been Regionally by AdvancED SACS/NCA/NWAC accredited since 2011.

You keep us well-informed of accreditation, etc. at Excel High School, Rod, but we've been waiting almost two years for further developments on Excel College accreditation. Please see my post of today's date in the DI Business Degrees forum. Thanks.

Great question, Johann. The Board of Directors of Excel Education Systems, Inc. (Excel’s Parent) has notified the Minnesota Office of Higher Education that Excel College is moving to teach out and refund our few enrolled students. Excel College will cease operation on December 31st, 2016. For the few students that EC served, we had some good success.

Our online high schools and digital curriculum division comprise 100% of our business operation. We made little effort to market Excel College until EC became accredited. There were two issues in play. 1) Our high school division is growing and takes all of our focus. Smart people stay focused on what is growing and thriving. 2) Since we made the decision to start the college six years ago, much has changed in the for-profit higher ed. industry. With colleges closing at rapid fire, and the possibility of ACICS losing its recognition, it was very clear to us that the for-profit college industry is under attack. We have everything in place concerning the college; qualified staff, curricula, facilities, audited financials, etc. Unlike most organizations, that is not the issue for us. We are very confident that had we further pursued accreditation for EC; we would have managed that process very well.

We serve thousands of students annually in our online high schools. We made the decision to remain dedicated and highly focused on our high school students and families. It came down to a business decision. Our growth and future success of our organization lie within our high schools, the digital curricula we license, and our proprietary SIS, which we also license.

Excel desires to driver the highest quality educational products and services. At this time, Higher Ed. is not a focus for our organization. We did not see an upside. I hope that provides a full explanation of where we are with Excel College.

Those who have read only this thread should check out the other thread started by Rod. The most recent page as of today is at:

This is a thread which should be red from the most recent posts backwards. It will save you a lot of time.

Now, I posit a question: If the college he founded, and of which he served as CEO, and which he announced in this unrelated thread will be closing, what does that say about his high school, discussed in this thread and sharing numerous personnel and so-called faculty? Seems to me that the fruit doesn't fall far from the tree, which does not reflect well on Excel High School. Recommendation: Avoid it like the plague.

Actually, the college is not closing. The college will continue to operate as a private career college and will be seeking Regional accreditation within 24-months. Talk all of the trash you want, but you will see good things to come from Excel schools.

I'm assuming that we are now talking about Excel Career Institute. No accreditation of any sort is mentioned although they are kind enough to add this:

"Credits earned at the institution may not transfer to all other institutions."

I think they spelled "any" incorrectly.

It is accredited but there are many better choices available in USA. I would prefer "The Ogburn Online School" or "North Star Academy".

There are many better choices available in USA. Although they are accredited but they've got some negative reviews. I would prefer "The Ogburn Online School" or "North Star Academy".

Hi Sara - If you are referring to Excel Career Institute (referenced above) I'm afraid you'll have to provide evidence of this alleged accreditation. I have just reviewed their website again and there is no evidence of any accreditation by any organization.

@Kizmet: I think Sara is referring to Excel High School, which, as we both know, is accredited. Why do I think so? She mentioned her preferences, Ogburn Online School and North Star Academy. Both are accredited schools which do not teach beyond Grade 12.
