Well, at least you didn't post the author's name. It's still bad form to post a private message in a public forum without permission.

Not to mention the fact that it is a clear violation of the TOS of this forum to post messages that are nothing more than ad hominem attacks.

Pot calling the kettle black again. This was not the only one that I got. I posted this one because it was funny. The rest of them did not put in the funny part.

I did not mention the name, and will leave it up to the individual as to whether he or she would like to identify himself or herself.

As I recall when I sent you a PM Gus you posted it not once, but twice already. It seems you like it in the open except when it is on you. You seem to like it all when it is discharging, but when intake kicks in it gets a little rough huh.

I quoted it the first time with your permission. The second time, all I did was provide a link. And now, I am posting it again (once permission is given, it can't be rescinded), not only to refute your point, but also so that your true nature and agenda is clear to everyone. Here is the exchange.

I could not have said it better! :D :D

You have my permission to post it many more times. It seems I have several that agree with me.

    Gus:

It is Friday night, and I always try to fool around with my wife on Friday night. I am going to take a break now. I will be back in 5 minutes though. Ah, make that 3 minutes. :D

Was that the entire message? If so, I can't see how it was anything other than personal threat of bodily assault. Do you agree, Scott, or am I missing something?

(And people question why Gus is paranoid...)

    By me.

    PM from me to Gus.

If you take it as I threat fine. I did not. The original above was an opinion. I stick to that opinion. If Gus was in a bar, or other public place I would think he would throw out less insults, and lay off calling people stupid, ignorant, etc. like he does here or else someone would give him a makeover. Would you call people names like this in public just because you did not like their ideas, or associations?

Gus claimed that as a threat, and then said I was probably harmless. That was when I sent him the above PM. Was I wrong for doing so? Probably, but I will admit it. It seems Gus either pisses people off, or runs them off. I have always been very slow tempered except when it comes to a bully, and a hypocrite. IMO Gus qualifies in each category.

That’s the way I read it, Jeff, and I can’t see anyone in their right mind seeing it any differently (especially since he followed up the private message with a public challenge for me to find out how harmful he could be). Moreover, the anonymous troll has a history of implying that he is capable of inflicting physical harm (ear-thumping, making members of this forum look like raccoons, etc.).

Ironically, I actually stood up for the guy when the powers-that-be wanted to ban him for a clear violation of the TOS of this forum. Go figure. What I regret most, however, is that I actually tried to help him when I thought his desire to pursue a legitimate degree was genuine. What can I say? I can't be right all the time.

    Gus:

Thanks for taking up for me. You truly are my Bunkie (isn't that your name for me). The nicest name you called me anyway. If anyone wants to throw me off, and leave you on here then I will gladly spend my time elsewhere. If the administrators can track the PM's that people tried to send to me, and the emails that people did send to me they will see that you are not likely to be signing any autographs soon. It seems you keep getting into these spats with everyone, but you found one now that will not back down!

    Your Bunkie,

    Scott

My intention was to denounce no one, nor to promote degree mills. A brief perusal of my 2000+ posts will confirm such.

No double standard, Gus. Janko is in a program which has not been completed, and until it is he has chosen to keep it anonymous. Once completed, he may indeed take a different position.

My reference to "standard millspeak" was not an attack on you personally, rather, it was to highlight that the comment was the position taken by many mill shills.

If one is going to speak authoritatively on a subject, one need not become defensive when another asks for validation of credentials. You have now stated that your degrees are from RA schools and in so doing have validated your position. ;)

James thinks I was trying to embarrass him. I am sure that's impossible.

My policy here on Degreeinfo, and to a certain extent in life generally, is to accept as little as possible on authority alone.

I don't believe anything that any of you say, simply on faith. That goes for everyone here, regardless of their "credentials". If I think that any of you are saying things that aren't correct, I will question your assertions, ragardless of what university you attended or what its "tier" ranking or accreditation status was. I don't give a rat's ass about any of your degrees, except when you are relating your own personal experiences with the programs where you earned them.

"Credentials" a basically irrelevant on Degreeinfo.

That's particularly true on a board where a majority of people post under assumed screen-names and false identities.

Posts stand or fall on their own intrinsic credibility. I judge them by their consistency with my own knowledge and experience. If posts contradict what I believe to be true, their persuasiveness rides on the reasons and evidence that are marshalled on their behalf.

If I'm to be persuaded, people have to post something persuasive. They can't just coast on a pompous sig line.
