Wait a minute! Aren’t you the guy that was complaining about me making fun of people? This is an excellent example of hypocrisy. Make a note of it, so that in the future, you can employ the term correctly.

I don’t know if criminals are behind the attacks on my computer, but I do know that purposely attaching a virus to emails is a crime. My gut feeling, however, is that it is simply done by assholes whom I upset with my criticism of their fraudulent credentials. They end up resorting to threats, childish pranks, and endless harangues. Sound familiar?

I understand you think I’m a jerk. I don’t mind, really I don’t. In fact, pretty much every individual with fraudulent credentials who has been exposed to my writings feels exactly the same way about me as you do.

I have most certainly used the term correctly in this thread. You like to dish it out, but you cannot take it can you? When someone gives it back to you you whine about sarcasm, or complain just like others do when you do it to them. THAT MY MAN IS HYPOCRISY!

Oh now I might be the one? :D :D

Maybe if you would stop being such a jerk you would not have these kind of problems!

Correct. What I am doing is not quite the same. I am politely refusing to answer. Moreover, although I am under no obligation to do so, I have also given my reasons why I refuse to divulge such personal information.

Now, this is my last post on this matter as the irony is killing me. I am being harassed for choosing not to reveal personal information by an anonymous troll.

That’s right, anonymous. Why don’t you post under your real full name plcscott? Of what are you afraid? Do you think someone will contact your customers and ask them if they gave you the job or a contract because they were under the mistaken belief you were a real engineer? Are you concerned someone might have state regulators launch an investigation whether you have been presenting yourself as a licensed engineer? Do you think someone might take out an ad in your hometown newspaper and expose your fraudulent credentials? Are you scared activities such as these might negatively impact your business, your livelihood, or your family? C’mon! Aren’t you the tough guy? What’s your real name and the name of your business? Oh, and your email address too. :D

Hogwash! You have not liked it when people would not answer you in the past (Henrik recently), but you conveniently will not answer a question about your degrees on a degree forum. This is not personal information. Nobody asked for your address, or your employers name, and number. Your degree is relevant here since you diss others.

I actually could care less about your degree. I just like pointing out your HYPOCRISY!

The majority of my customers have been doing business with me for years. Three of my largest customers are my former employers, so you contacting them would not bother me at all. There are at least 6 people from this forum that I have been trading emails with, and have talked with two of them on the phone, so they have my information.

I would not volunteer any information to you seeing as how you are too chicken shit to reveal your degree, and have obviously shown intent to do the kind of things you think someone would do to you. I guess that is where you get these wacky conspiracy theories.

Since you try to verbally knock people down I guess you would try to tear people down in any way you can. Your character, and integrity comes into focus more, and more.

Lemme see. Gus makes a generic reference to assholes and Scott wonders if he's included. This is the funniest thing I've heard since finding out the Liberian veep is Moses Blah. Somehow, I think Gus is coming out ahead. Stay tuned.

Yumaybe right. I do not claim to be as well versed in insults as Gus, and that is not my desire. I can't say that I wake up everyday with the goal of disrespecting, and insulting people. However, taking crap from a bully hypocrite is something I have always had trouble with. It seems from some of my recent emails that Gus is not in high regard by others here either.

This is a cut-and-paste from someone else. Beyond RA - there are still some very important distinctions.

"There's a post on about.com's Dis Ed about the importance of the AACSB. The Chronicle of Higher Education makes the point to teach at most accredited schools's - it's needed.

"One position candidate with a doctorate from Union Institute was once told that he would get further with a CV that didn't have "Union Institute" on it. "

Are you aware that some viruses/Trojans are programmed to automatically skim e-mail addresses from Usenet? E-mail addresses posted to Usenet get spammed and attacked, regardless of associated content.

Of course, there are hackers specifically targeting us, as well.

I just got my computer out of the repair shop after almost a month of attempts to repair and replace. Had to erase the hard drive, replace memory chip, motherboard, etc. on an almost new
unit, all because of a virus introduced through spyware. Its a dangerous world out there, between viruses and Trojans and Liberian schools and combative Gus's.....

    Re: virus

AFAIK, hardvare-destroying viruses/trojans are still an urban legend. There are simply no processor instructions capable of harming say a memory module - no real point having them, right? The only real and believable example of such a weapon I know of is described in sci-fi/cyberpunk novel, citing "overly smartBIOS programs". :D

What about a virus that gets the user so upset that he smashes the computer? :D

This is a possibility, Mark. The best known virus from this class would be Microsoft Windows :D

About the use of the word "INFER" Uncle Janko went to great effort in trying to embarrass me by my using it as another way of saying to imply. Even when I quoted from the dictionary the definition ( to imply ). It seems Uncle Janko doesn't correct everyone. Hey Janko you don't correct people you agree with. Am I to infer you have double standards.

Dennis has given his information out and takes the praise and heat. He has the right to question people who demand from others what they refuse to do themselves. Dennis is honest about what he does and why. When he earns his doctorate I'll readily give him the title Doctor.

I stand by my usage of the term “infer.” Dennis doesn’t imply anything, he comes right out and says what he means. He is, however, prone to self-serving delusions, and in the future might infer from the fact that because CCU became DETC accredited, his doctorate was from an accredited institution. Dennis would never imply this, of course; that would be contrary to his nature. He would simply state his inference as fact. :D

Really? Can you point to a single post of mine (quote, please) where I demanded that someone reveal their credentials? Over the years, I can’t recall of a single instance of having done so. Provide a link to a post of mine where I demanded or even asked that someone reveal their credentials and I’ll admit to being a hypocrite. (I hope DegreeInfo's search engine can handle the load. ;) )
Hey! That’s what I just said. That’s why I used the term infer instead of imply. :D

So will I, James, but I will still correct him if he infers that his degree is from an accredited institution and states this inference as fact. :D :D :D

Mark, I am well aware of the dangers of having both my real name and email on Usenet. That’s precisely why, although I lurked at AED for many, many years, I never posted. In fact, I only posted this once in response to a personal attack that I wanted to nip in the bud. The email I used was already known and usually receives about 2 or 3 inquiries a week concerning distance education.

The attacks, however, were not the usual spam or redirected email attachments. The majority were back doors and Trojan horses (one designed to log all of my keystrokes) attached to requests for information concerning distance education and accreditation issues, so I’m pretty sure it was intentional and malicious. Fortunately, my firewalls and anti-virus programs caught all of them.

I wouldn’t even have mentioned it on this forum (as publicity only has a way of encouraging these individuals), but a true newbie was clearly clueless as to the hazards of revealing too much information on the Internet and the need to guard one’s privacy. Much to my chagrin, he still didn’t (or wouldn’t, or couldn’t) understand what I was trying to say and I had to resort to making my point much more emphatically, and as they say, bring it closer to home.

This is an email I just received. I had to share it because it is funny.

And to all that have tried to PM me. I get an email saying that you tried to PM me, but my PM box is empty. For some reason it is not working, and maybe someone can get it fixed soon. I know Chip, and the gang are busy. I will not reveal who sent this I'll leave that to them to decide. They may not want the wrath of Gus. :D :D
