It is absolutely amazing to read all the provocative comments regarding the chief, and all because of his myriad honors, titles, awards, associations and positions--both secular and sacred. C'mon guys, I know jealousy when I see it.

Why are you guys so jealous of The Reverend Dr. Chief Swift Eagle?

According to the ITU website, the PhD (Option #2) requires a 300-600 page dissertation.

    "afflication"

At first I thought it was a typo. Nope--it's a neologism. Sort of a cross between an affiliation and an affliction. This could be applied in lots of places. Thanks, Deb.

PS. Native Americans have Chief S.C.; we Carpathians have Prince Paul. Ick.

janko, if you like it, I'm willing to use it.

    I'll bite. Who's Prince Paul?

Perhaps because we don't think all of his honours, titles and awards are entirely legitimate?

I do not know under what authority he was made a "Grand Duke of the Holy Russian Empire" but his "elevantion to the Russian royal family" needs a bit (or much) more supporting evidence.

    Arcana with a puzzler

This so far off topic that it's lost in Inner Mongolia somewhere--all my fault, too.

Prince Paul is the son of the son of a morganatic marriage between the then Crown Prince Carol and Ioanna "Zizi" Lambrino (the Lambrinos were minor Phanariot nobility, but not royals), which subsequently ended in divorce (permitted in the Orthodox Church in a limited way).

He has a wonderfully tacky website you might or might not enjoy viewing. His claim is that he is the legitimate heir of the Romanian Crown. Since Crown Prince Carol's marriage was not legal under Romanian law at the time, he's not either. (Dumnezeu this stuff is arcane!)

The legal head of the House of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen is the exiled King Mihai (king from 1927-1930 and again from 1940-1947). If one is of a mind to pay attention to Romanian royalty, while Prince Paul may well be a nice man, I'm afraid that King Mihai is the only game in town.

Now we go into the bloody Gobi Desert of off-topic arcana.

King Mihai is one of two surviving heads of state from World War II. Here's a sort of puzzler--hardly Bear quality, but about the best I can do. Who's the other one?

Erk. Whatshisname (pauses to do a google search) I mean Simeon of Bulgaria?

I can't think of anywhere else where there's anybody old enough still kicking around.

OK, you're ex Soviet and you DEFEND an outfit whose head claims to be "Great Knyaz of Russian Royal Family" and "Patriarch of Holy Russian Orthodox Church" as well as American Indian chief???
I'm Ukrainian and I'm not crazy about my Russian heritage all that much right now, but this mockery is too much! I mean, the guy insults Russian Church, royal family (including the last Emperor whom many regard as Saint), educational system, parliament, Academy of Science and space program. Again, I am not crazy about some of these either, but who the hell this fellow thinks he is? "Great Knyaz" my ass!

  11. Stanslav,

You amaze me! What a waste of DNA! Don't you have anything better to do with your time than insult and degrade other people you feel don't fit your particular mold? I think it is rather funny, because while you are in the process of trying to spread your worthless garbage and insults about others, you show just how ignorant you really are! And another thing, if you feel it is OK in this forum to insult people that you don't know anything about, I then feel it is OK to tell you that I personally think you are nothing more than fool! For God's Sakes, Why don't you get a real life!

By the way, I am insuring that Dr. Swift Eagle is being made aware of your malacious comments and I hope he decides to sue you for your comments. And don't think just because you participate in this forum, that your are immune to legal action.

The more you expouse and hold yourself out to have some knowledge about the IUFS and in thise case Chief Swift Eagle, just goes to dhow people how stupid you really are.

I have to agree with jugador that this is so over the top it is actually funny. (albeit in a really dark way) Look at this clown ... [IMG] How can anyone with a room temperature or higher IQ think that he (??? --- look closely) is a senior member of the clergy of any denomination or an academic at any level? His attempt to pass himself off as an Orthodox Bishop (sans beard) does not even rise to the level of impersonation as it is so poor. One would put his overall presentation, with respect to authenticity, as somewhere between the level of a Halloween costume and a local stage production.

BTW PhD_Cyberspace , I often find your defense of certain positions commendable (and it makes the subsequent debate lively) but in this case it appears that you are reflexively taking a contrarian position. I know that even the guilty deserve a vigorous defense but ...

    puzzler-blooper and raysing hell

Whoops. Angela and Steve, you're BOTH right.
I was thinking of the former baby tsar Simeon, latterly Simeon Saskoburgotski and a current Bulgarian politician (prime minister?). I had forgotten about Zahir Shah, who actually went back to Afghanistan recently after many years in Italy.
    Well done, you!

Ray, why are you so angrily defending people with silly titles and less-than-wonderful affiliations and attacking people with integrity such as Stanislav? Your making threats is very bad. Don't you realize how badly this reflects on CCU?

    on reflection

    Ray is an optimist.

Is it really possible to degrade Chief S.C.? I doubt it.

I also doubt that Ray can mar the reputation of "Stanslav" (sic), who is also a Northeast Carpathian since Ukraine has a bit of Carpathia round about Uzhorod/Ungvar.

Perhaps Ray is miffed because Stanislav uses standard English and can spell.

We Carpathians are funny that way.

Tom H: Good point about the Orthodox bishop bit. How silly.

If Dr Swift Eagle (why do all wannabes have eagle in their name?) can prove that he is -

    An astronaut
    Russian royalty
A recognized chief of a recognized tribe
    Holds a real doctorate
    A Bishop

    - I will eat his fancy hat.

Just because you guys can't claim the title Grand Duke of the Holy Roman Empire is no reason to malign the chief.

You guys need to get a grip on all this jealousy.............

    I dont defend IUFS

There are other schools in Russia that are starting and they only have License from Ministry of Education at this time.

I don't want people to tink because of IUFS that all other Licensed schools are the same.

License is more than business registration and thats my point.
    License its not Karate school.

This is a post secondary establishement.
The rest is BS, the Knyaz etc - Joke.

    Thats all.

If I was running IUFS the first thing I would do is take off all the accreditations they list.

I would have only the License and work from that.

    That was their bigest mistake.

I don't know were you live but I live in a large ex Soviet - Russian speaking comunity were this things talked about.

Well, for the License to be more defensible, the authorities can start with checking Web sites of prospective schools and revoke a license from a school whose head is a royal reverend chicken from outer space, that advertises fake foreign accreditation and, apparently, sells degrees outside of their license scope to foreigners. Besides, repeating their lies about getting "accredited" is not a defence for a License, no matter how reasonably sounding these lies are.
