This program requires a year in residence. They also have an EdD, which only requires several short visits to campus.

Carson-Newman University offer Ed.D online, I assume the price tag is cheap. I do not see the tuition for Doctorate, but Master level is relatively cheap.

Seems like professional suicide to me.

As ever, this depends an awful lot on what one's current situation is and what one's professional goals are. It could be either. Or neither.

I was very confused at why someone who finished a PhD in Leadership at the University of the Cumberlands 3 years ago would now be looking for an EdD in Higher Education Administration. I see that this is a 5 year old post. Glad they found a school that fit with them. I don't think you can go wrong with a $21,000 EdD. Current prices are only slightly more expensive, at $24K. But again, no federal financial aid. (https://www.ace.edu/program/doctor-of-education-in-leadership)

If I wanted an EdD and not a PhD (and in education rather than another field) that would be a good option.
