    Dear John:

I currently participate in four distance learning forums: degreeinfo.com, degreeboard.com, degree.net, and elearners.com. There were other distance learning forums which I used to participate in, but no longer. I used to participate in several history discussion boards, but AllEmpires is the only one where I still participate. I also participate at politicalforum.com, though I've tried other political forums.

I check this board about daily and read the posts of interests.

Other places I visit. www.glocktalk.com they have an incredible off topic forum called general non-glocking with lots of interesting folks.

love rennlist.com since I finally purchased a Porsche.

Firstmode, have you checked out bullshido.com? Interesting bunch of people over there as well.

Ted . . . I'd be interested in your take on degree.net. Is it clear (yet) to you what the proprietor's agenda is? Why is he doing this? What is he getting out of it?

The few times I've visited it, it looks generally reputable, although I'm annoyed at his using all my written stuff without permission -- but the permission is not mine to give; I sold my copyrights (along with degree.net) to Pearson PLC in 1998 and they subsequently sold them to Ten Speed Press -- and then Ten Speed allegedly forgot to renew the degree.net name, and the man on Vanuatu glommed on to it.

(Ten Speed also 'forgot' to pay the bill on the 1-888-DEGREE-NET phone number, that I had bought for $5,000. I detect a certain lack of interest there.)

I haven't even figured out if the owner of degree.net has an agenda, much less what it might be if he has one.

Halhigdon.com..is a runner's site. There are runner blogs on there ( to which I have one) for all that want to have one. It is run by Hal Higdon. He is a former Olympian Trials particpant in the 3000 meter steeplechase in 1960.

Storm2k.org...is a site for meteorologists (amateur and professional alike) and casual fans to talk about weather. It is really hopping during Hurricane season.

Rock The Bayou....(rockthebayou.com) is a site for the upcoming metal festival in Houston, Texas. Fans from many different bands come and talk about the event (August 29-September 1) and other items.
