Speaking of degree abbreviations, does anyone know how to abbreviate Associate of Divinity? Bachelor of Divinity is abbreviated BD. Master of Divinity is abbreviated MDiv. And Doctor of Divinity is abbreviated DD.
Master's postnomials Oh, I love "LL.M." It's the sole remaining "traditional" common law degree designation. I loath and despise the stupid, stupid "professional doctorate" J.D. LL.B. was much better; the complaint was that folks thought it was "just another bachelor's degree" but I'd much rather be under-valued out of professional modesty than accused of being a doctoral poseur. If you have to brag about being classy, you aren't.
I'm guessing here, Ted - because I've never seen such a degree. An AA in religious studies would be more what I'd expect to see. I don't spend much time reading up on religious degrees, though, so I'll not dispute that such a degree exists. I think it would be abbreviated AD. The only reason I can see for the M.Div. being semi-spelled out is to distinguish it from M.D. - Doctor of Medicine. Johann
Really? I've read multiple sources (including users on this site) who suggest only using Masters and higher degrees in one's signature. Personally, I put my professional certification (which is HUGELY relevant in my field, even more important than a degree) in my sig line, but leave off the BA.
The Baptist College of Florida offers the AD (ADiv?). It is a two-year degree of ordination designed for middle-aged men without bachelor's degrees.
Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary offers the Asociate of Divinity and they use the abbreviation ADiv.
MPS = Master of Professional Studies (Georgetown Univeresity, Penn State and etc..) DPS = Doctor of Professional Studies DLA = Doctor of Liberal Arts DEngSc = Doctor of Engineering Science (Columbia University's CVN)
Georgetown University's School of Continuing Education ofer Doctor of Liberal Arts, but it is not online. URL: Doctor of Liberal Studies | Doctor of Liberal Studies | Georgetown University School of Continuing Studies One my instructors graduated from there; and he is the CIO of Georgetown University Law School. And yes, he got entire program for FREE.
Stupid Question? Is there someone on this board who holds the Associate of Ministry degree and/or the Bachelor of Ministry degree?
