Comes now Western Advanced Central University

A reader sent me a long email from this new (to me) phony, Western Advanced Central University, at wacuniversity.com. Website is with an anonymous provider in Louisiana. Did a search for the odd wording in the email letter, "able to avail degree" and it also came up with McFord University. They are fully accredited by the "US Department of State Authentications." The phone number on their website is not operating at this time.

Richard Pryor: I don't recognize your accrediting agency. Is the ACHOE recognized by the US Dept of Education as a legitimate accrediting agency?

Neel Foster: So the degree awarded from our university is not fake,its fully Accredited honor and Accepted in all 50 states

Richard Pryor: Neel - I am a professor at a small midwestern university...and my name isn't Richard Pryor. A degree from WAC would be meaningless in the USA, since no legitimate doctoral program would grant a degree based on "life experience," and certainly not without an applied project or dissertation.

These critters - McFord (mentioned by Dr. Bear) Western Advanced and MUST (mentioned by MC) DO indeed appear related. I think they're part of the crowded stable of uh-skools run by a mill-meister of Karachi, Pakistan - a Mr. Koreshi. I forget his first name. I'm sure Dr. Bear could fill you in on HIM, no problems.

Spelling correction. The Karachi serial mill-meister's name is SALEM KURESHI. The connection between his many bogus schools, including MUST, Western Advanced and McFord has been documented before, by people who know WAY more about degree mills than I do.

I think maybe this is another good job for a team of Navy Seals....

Interesting timing. I just checked some of my LinkedIn groups. Both McFord and MUST are posting to some of the education groups there promising 100% scholarships and such. The funny thing is they are posting to groups like ISTE and Technology in Education. These are ed tech professional groups. I guess they haven't figured out yet where to look for 'prospects' on LinkedIn.

 

All Kureshi's schools etc. are a complete waste of time. It doesn't really matter whether his people figure LinkedIn out - or they don't. The professionals will instantly recognize the efforts of low-level spammers for garbage "schools."

It may take the less-experienced a second or two -- but they'll get the picture fast.

Kureshi is wasting his time. Unfortunately, he is wealthy, or so I'm told, so he can afford to waste his time...
