This school is right down the road from me ( Well, a little farther than right down the road, but 15 miles)

Mario Enzler is accused of attaining the Cameron School of Business’ top job by presenting on his resume several degrees that apparently don’t exist. The Italian university where Enzler said he received a doctorate does not offer Ph.D.s, and the institution where he said he got a Bachelor’s is actually a high school, several concerned professors told the private Catholic institution in an April letter.

St. Thomas officials on Tuesday confirmed Enzler’s resignation but declined to comment on the surrounding circumstances.

This is similar to Joe Gerace (mentioned here.) If they lie and get into the job and aren't terrible, people are less inclined to check. But when your leadership causes numerous people to quit or complain, people start looking at you more closely.
