I think you blew that when when you started this thread. However, I for one am pleased that you shared Peter's emails. I found them to be very entertaining.

BTW, it's not me but I hear that the secret robot society from Futurarama is gunning for Peter. Those guys are really tough as long as they don't run out of motor oil to drink.

Take care and come back soon. I am sure that everybody in this board, including Peter, will like you to come back.

Reclaiming the (junior) throne for the moment . . .*

Okay, Rich, a serious note. You deserve at least that much . . .

When you're in the business of busting the chops of degree mills, you learn to take a lot of heat. You also learn the truth in the old adage, "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen."

All of us get to the point occasionally where we have to leave the kitchen. But the smoothest way to do it is just that: do it, and don't make a big production out of it.
(In other words, Bill Huffman is right - you blew "going quietly" in your first post.)

I take regular breaks from the 'net (not just from this board). And if you look at post counts alone, you can certainly tell that this board is not my life.

And the world still goes on without us. Hell, when I took one break from the entire 'net, going so far as to wipe out my entire web site (the personal one), thus giving MIGS a reprieve, the Great State of Texas - without my knowledge - was still humming in teh background, giving all of us the most entertainment we ever had when it came to a degree mill.

Rule #1: Don't let the turkeys get you down. (And, as we all know, Peter is one of the turkeys.) If you stand for accredited education, it's a given that you will have enemies. Don't let them get the better of you.

And don't feel that it's incumbent upon you to save the world. I just did a Union information session last week, and based on the questions and e-mail I received, I was tempted to re-post my TUI documents. I am resisting that temptation. Why? Because people should find their own motivation, just as I did - and do their own work, just as I did. Remember that when you and I got into the wacky world of DL as students years ago, we didn't have people like us to rely on. We made our mistakes and tripped over our own feet occasionally (well, maybe you more than me :p) but we survived, just as others will.

Frankly, I have no idea what the "two disputes on this board lately" were about, but I'm sure that the words of the great contemporary philosopher Robin Williams are relevant here: "Joke 'em if they can't take a fuck."

    Enjoy the break, sport.

Gee, I've been a US Freemason for over 10 years, and this is news to me. I should probably start going to meetings again.

I hope that everyone saw through Peter's ridiculous attempt to threaten Rich with silly lies. However, I wasn't kidding about the secret robot society from Futurama, they're after Peter and I don't think there's anything that can stop them. You may say to yourself, "Self, that Huffman guy is blowing smoke. How could a cartoon get Peter?" At which point I would just have to ignore you because you're just a kook talking to yourself anyway.

    I disagree Bill.

Peter has nothing to fear from robots on futurama, distancedegree.net, or anywhere else. He need fear only his (freudian?) handlers for making a fool of himself and himself, in addition to hurting his case almost as much as he hurt his case.

The educational journey can be a long and arduous one. Are there any fellow travelers here?

The DL discussion site board has become dead-boring without the likes of Rich, Peter, Lawrie, Kennedy, Bear all of the Bills and others how can we survive. Rich & Peter 'get back to where you once belong' the site discussions I mean. (A line from a Beatles song I think it was)

    Rich,

I expect you to be back and hope to see your posts in the future. I think death or the end of the Internet are the only true method to get away from posting on distance education by the regulars.

    Enjoy the break.

Rich & Peter, once and for all..how much begging do we have to do to get you back? Its becoming bredfull without the poking and disputes, this is what has kept the board alive. Come-on Man its thanksgiving and time to forget the past..live it & liven it up, eat Turkey and have a brew, winter is setting in here in the Northern Hemisphere.

You know I believe you guys have created a conspiracy here to see how much publicity you can get like spoiled brats (army & Pomy-Bs that is) and did you notice, not even John Bear got into this one, but maybe he is in this one too to see if we can clear the board and start again?

After all postings have reached 50,000+ in less than 2 years.

Dont you think that all Senior members should call it 'C-YA' and come back under a different names/call sign/handle?

How can you guys possibly stay away now, missing the action, especially not taking pokes at the like of the HW programmes, UNISA's cheap degrees, those wonderful discussions on RA, CAL state approved degrees, DETC, and Diploma Mills..what more can be said, except your C-YA post is getting a lot of viewing and responses AND EXTREMELY BORING.

    Good work, I say..Rich, Peter & Charles.

    Murder by Decree.

Not to be confused with "murder by degree".

Rich wasn't gone for very long. His last post was today. :)Once a poster, always a poster. Nobody just "throws off an addiction" with the snap of their fingers, particularly an addiction to DegreeInfo.com. ;)

    Hi,

My name is Richard Douglas, and I am a DegreeInfo-holic. ;)

  16. I think we owe a debt of gratitude to Mark Israel, who answered, some four months later, a question that North posted back in November 2002.

By doing so, of course, he revived one of the funnier threads on the board about good ol' Rich Douglas.

    Well done, Mark!

Rich - Can you provide the links of the latest issues. I have gotten into some hot water here and still feel I am right, but finding out who is like me, and who is not. (Good versus Evil ;) )

So that is why I ask, I would like to review you latest, I have done a search, but... want to know which ones you are talking about.

Also, I think there should be NO threats on this board. A recent post to my company's stock site put "where is a postal worker when you need one" on the Yahoo board, he is being prosecuted, so everyone should be careful what they say. In today's world a joke in an e-mail in reference above is taken seriously.

These issues are informative, but should not be a threat to anyone, I hope the moderators agree, though I have not seen them step in before. But saying that, it should also be substantiated - anyway, that is enough for now. Hope everyone sticks in, I enjoy this board.
