I've gotten into two disputes on this board lately, for which I am regretful. I can't help but think that Charles and Peter are right, and that I am the problem. So I will solve it.

With that, I offer my sincere and humble apologies, and say goodbye.

 

If you take a break brom this board Rich, I hope that it is both temporary and short.

Controversy isn't a bad thing, you know. It's what keeps this board interesting. It stimulates all of us to perfect our understanding and to grow. And it's a hell of a lot more fun than when everyone is saying "me too" or engaging in inane and empty "banter".

When I find that my fuse is getting too short, and that I'm *caring* just a little too much, taking a short break does wonders for me. It will for you, too.

I value your participation and your contributions a great deal Rich, and hope that they will continue for a long time to come.

Hello Rich, Sorry to see you retire from the board. I hope it is just a brief vacation. I spend my days with teenagers and am always greatful to read anything that contributes to my level of thinking. Wishing you a peaceful Thanksgiving and a joyful Advent. Hille

Damn, I love these boards, especially the ones that use vBulletin software. I haven't done any research on this notion, but it seems that they have a much higher percentage of prima donnas that occasionally threaten to leave . . . but don't.

A well-deserved break, on the other hand, is something else. Just don't make a big production out of it. Hell, Tom H. took a lengthy break, and came back in top form. I took a lengthy break, and came up at my usual obnoxious form. You see? Even you can do that, Rich.

So keep it up, Rich. We need - yea, even revel - in that sense of drama. Even if you do it with less style than some of us. Besides, you may benefit from some more time to recover from your nightmare with MIGS (which, of course, the rest of us thoroughly enjoyed).

Rich. In every difference you ever had with me you were wrong, and you didn't quit then. Don't go now. Your knowledge and input is too valuable.

 

Speaking as someone who has permanently retired from this board at least five or six times, I can suggest a good vacation--when the board stops looking like fun, it's time to wander off for a while. But make no mistake: You'll be back, and you'll be welcome.

Meanwhile, if you could PM me with some non-Degreeinfo means of contacting you, that would be great.

I'm sorry (again). One thing, and then I'll go. I'm leaving not because of anyone else's behavior, but because of my own. It simply does not reflect how I interact with others in person.

This is not a "vacation." It is a departure. I am contributing so very little.

But before I go, the following is an e-mail I received from Peter French. (And, thus, the reason for this last post.) I'll leave it to others to ponder, but please note the implications not just about who and what I am (which Peter has no clue about), but also that I might be connected with some weird persecution of him (which I most certainly am not). It is to wonder.

your attitude is variable at best and unreliable at worst - someone tried to dob me in for my ACU/SUL degrees to UNE - it could have been you and here is no way that I could say - 'no, not Rich...' - and consequently you neither know where I work or what I really do
you are xenophobic and ethnocentric
you have your head that far up your arse all you can see is 'shit' and often that is what we get from you
So, before the rest of world gets sick of you, and you remove any lingering doubt as to what you really represent, and your second wife tell you to lump it, your school decides your attitude is a risk they don't need, and your daytime employer and fellow employees have had enough of you, WAKE UP. I didn't come back onto the group to meet the unpleasant side of Rich Douglas, I came back because of the unreasonable action and attitude in the 'outings' at the request of some senior US Freemasons. Hi Broderick, I hope that you manage to run into an incompetent personnel department when you apply for that job you want, so that your degree will do you some good.

 

Senior Freemasons? If I am understanding this, some Senoir Masons asked him to come back to deal with you? Gets interesting. Now the question is which branch? Blue Lodge Senior Masons? Templars? Scottish Rite 33 degree? or the fun side, Shriners. For your sake Rich I hope it is the fun fat guys. Then the worst that can happen is that they dress you up in a fez, get you drunk, and you get arrested for tossing water ballons out hotel windows. If it is the other guys?? What was the Sherlock Holmes movie with the Masons and the Ripper??

Incidentally, I have a great deal of respect for the Masons who give over a million dollars a day to charity in the US and run free burn hospitals.
