I was 28 when I completed my associates degree from a B&M community college, and 30 when I got my bachelors online. The only thing that got in my way was six years in the military and several trips to the middle east.

All in all, I have no regrets . . .

Does that smiley mean confused? Well, for the record, the Bobby "Boris" Pickett song "Monster Mash" has a line in it that says, "The Coffin Bangers were about to arrive with their vocal group, the Crypt Kicker Five."

The Union Institute used to say that the average age of their students was about 40.

I believe it. When I attended class I was usually one of the youngest people at 30 years old. UI&U also has a ton of students from local fire departments, police departments, and highway patrol. Most of which have been in the field for a while, and now need their degree to promote up the chain. The last class I attended, there were two CHP sergeants, three CHP lieutenants, one police sergeant, and two fire battalion commanders. (Out of a class of 12 students, 8 of them were in mid career public safety folks) So most of my classmates were in their early to late 40's. Everyone used to joke around and call UI&U "Cop University" since 3/4 of the class and the instructors used to come to class armed, lol.

Judging by what you have said and what you have chosen to do, the above statement seems accurate. Good job.

I guess I'm the old man of this thread (so far). I'm 47, and still working on my first BS. I've been working at it off-and-on for about 6 years now. Thankfully, I have fewer credits ahead of me than behind me. I still plan to get a graduate degree, so the "I'm too old to start now" argument doesn't really make sense to me.

I'm 45. It's good to see other people my age still plugging away.

  18. Wow. This is another reason why I just love this site so much. There are people on here that are 2x my age (not a bad thing). So much wisdom and knowledge to learn. Keep it coming.
