I was curious as to the average age of the distance learner. I am 41 years old, and getting ready to become a "college student" via distance learning after not attending college classes since I graduated from college in 1994. It makes me feel like an old bag of bones, lol!:eek5:

I guess the saying goes, "you're never too old to learn."

Anyone care to share their age?:ponder:

I have no idea what is the average age, but if I am not mistaken Capella University once indicated average age in the late 30's. As for me, I am only 28 years old. Have been studying constantly since high school graduation include Military schools.

I'm 38, and 41 is not old, not by a long shot. :sasmokin:

I'm 25 years young! :lmao: But I consider myself more mature than those my own age.

Distance education fits for my busy schedule. I work in a corporate setting 8:30 - 5:30 and manage a small bible study during the week. It's nearly impossible for me to obtain an education at a B&M with my work schedule. Unless they were night classes, at which would consume my time away from my wife. Here and I are both doing Liberty online and both taking the same courses (so it really helps to have a reinstatement in knowing that we are doing this together). I believe this really keeps us connected because we can still manage to spend time together and finish our education at the same time, without the burn out of a B&M school.

I have learned two things about keeping a healthy relationship:

    1. A happy wife, equals a happy life!
    2. The way you won them, is the the way you keep them!

For the second, I know that my wife loves to spend time with me! That's a fact! If I were to do a full time program at a B&M and work, well there wouldn't be much of me to go around. That is why Online Education works for me.

I think what it proves is that DL truly doesn't encompass a certain age... it encompasses a certain student!

On a side note, I'm taking a stats class right now, and I have the sweetest grandma that is also enrolled in my class. She is 67 years young, and she is amazing; I know you will be too Julie!!!

It seems as if Tekman's response reflects the general ages of our posters to this thread. My dad is 62 years young, and he is in better shape and more healthy than I am. Maybe we really do get better with age, just like a fine wine. Most of my patients are elderly, and I meet some in their 80's and 90's who are extremely active, and nothing can keep em' down.

Thank you so much for sharing this with me! It must be nice to be able to complete your studies together, and toss ideas/problems back and forth relating to your classes.

Speaking of staying in shape, I am heading to that direction. I drink about 2 gallons of water per day, and spend about 1 to 1 1/2 hours at the gym per day (5 to 6 days per week). Since I am going through divorce, so this is the only way for me to stay motivation.
