    Trillions?

Yeah, that bit is total BS, especially since Social Security and Medicare were specifically excluded.

Because Social Security and Medicare come from a different pile of budget sources, not from the Federal Income Tax? Besides, the majority on Social Security and Medicare are fixed-income earners.

Will this lower the cost of eggs?

My wife usually does the grocery shopping but I went in for eggs the other day and about had a seizure when I saw the price.

The answer is no because the hens decided to take sick leaves.

Cant Trump make an EO to cancel sick leave for chickens? He said he would bring prices down day one!

Egg prices are much lower in Canada now. That's because dairy and poultry production and prices are regulated through a supply management system. Although chiefly organized by the agricultural producers, it's a form of big-government regulation and it's broadly socialistic.

The Trump administration put out a clarification regarding the EO.

They can't do anything right. The main point is that they don't have to. Chaos and hobbling the government are the desired outcomes here.

Trump is just grabbing power. The Legislature has the power of the purse. Trump cannot legally just decide on his own to not spend money that has been allocated by law. This plan is all laid out in Project 2025.

When dealing with an opportunist--the earliest stage of adult development, the rules apply only as far as they can be enforced. Who's going to stop Trump? In my opinion, the only people powerful enough to do that are the ones closest to him. And they don't seem too inclined to do so.

I thought the Legislative has the power for funding, but the Executive has the power for spending.

TEKMAN, that's not as cut and dried as you might think, at least as to the spending part. President Nixon attempted to "impound" funds rather than spend the money as Congress had directed. It will be interesting to see how it works out.

Apparently, the EO has been rescinded today by OMB after the outcry and outrage...Good!

This administration is completely incompetent. They release an EO, cause chaos, courts stop it due to lack of clarity, and then revoke it. So much for government efficiency.

We're getting into the political weeds here. Since the administration retracted the executive order I'll risk continuing what should probably be in the political section of the forum.

I'm not really arguing with the incompetent claim but, it's not as clear as we might think. This was part of the Project 2025 plan. I don't think Trump really cares that much because he's already accomplished his main goal this administration. That is to not spend the rest of his life in jail. He's no longer in danger of jail time. So, main mission accomplished. He gets to claim to the MAGA faithful that he's trying to cut spending and get the deep state under control. He can blame the failure on the courts. So secondary goal accomplished and is ongoing. He may return with a similar order but more finely tuned. We will see.

Whether it is Trump or the Tooth Fairy in office, I don't care... I just want a consistently balanced budget coming out of DC each year.

I too want a sustainable federal budget, but this is not the way to go about it.
