    Hello everyone,

Can someone please help me with information on a VERY affordable one year online/ distance learning Masters degree program in business, information systems, IT or other related fields?

Cost is a major deciding factor.

I'm really open to suggestions and i have plans to start in earnest.

BTW: Is it possible to have a graduate assistanship option if studying online or via distance learning?

    Thank you so much.

    Sam

    Hi,

Take a look at Aspen University (DETC accredited). Aspen offers Masters degrees in all three areas that you mentioned. Tuition is very reasonable. All of Aspen's courses may be taken via independent study. So, you can finish them at your own pace. You could certainly wrap up an Aspen degree in less than a year (if you're motivated). In addition, you can transfer up to 18 credits into their 36 credit degree programs.

I am a student with Aspen (MS in IT program) and my experience has been positive overall.

    Cheers!
    Tom

I recommend Chadron State College. Chadron is regionally accredited and ACBSP accredited. Tuition is $588.75 per course. Courses last 8 weeks. This is about as cheap as they get. http://www2.csc.edu/distancelearning/MBA.asp

How much tuition can you afford to pay? What is your price range so that we may give you more options?

APUS offers an online MBA at $275 per credit hour.

    http://www.apus.edu/

Tuition for the DETC accredited online MBA at Columbia Southern University is $250 per credit hour.

    http://www.columbiasouthern.edu/programs/graduate.asp

I gave you a listing for one of the cheapest online MBA programs in the United States. Depending on where you live currency wise, universities in countries like South Africa or India may offer cheaper online MBAs.

are there any news on how far europe is up with online only programs? someone posted these days here a link to the "external system" of the university of london, which seems to be online with tests at regional testcenters around the world ( but not that cheap either). there are quite a few universities in the uk (not to mention scotland, ireland and so on) and without a big name they probably have also to compete in the price...

i am in mountain states 60 week online strategic leadership and i am loving it. i think it is 425 a credit but you have 4 classes a term and you only do one at a time to give you enough time to truly learn stuff and not be overwhelmed.

University of Liverpool has 100% online MBA and MSc programmes, for example. Not to mention The Open University (Milton Keynes), with more than 250,000+ students.

Many thanks to all the contributors... your submissons are very well appreciated!

I might lean more towards the South Africa online/ distance learning Masters option since it seems tuition cost is much lower there.

Does UNISA offer a 1 year Masters program? I didnt see anything like that on their website.

Any other suggestions for South Africa or other worldwide locations?

    I'm pretty open to ideas...

Again, thanks to all you great folks at DegreeInfo!

    How about a loan?

Seriously though, many of the suggestions have been pretty cheap ($$ wise that is) and perhaps some of lowest tuition rates around.

    How "cheap" do you mean?

    Thanks Shotojuku,

I mean .. as cheap as it can get ...

Getting a loan is not a bad option... as an international applicant what sources do you recommend?

    I really appreciate this!

    Blekinge Institute of Technology

You cannot beat the cost of an MBA via distance education (online) from Blekinge Institute of Technology in Sweden with a tuition fee of FREE. The only costs to you are books and one-time travel to the campus to write the final comprehensive examination. All instruction and the final examination are in English.

I hear its quite difficult/ competitive securing admission into the Masters program at BTH, Sweden. I'm sure there must be other alternatives...

I cannot speak as to the competitiveness of admissions into the BTH online MBA degree, however, if fear of a little competition has you worried perhaps plans for graduate study should be put on hold. Based on which sources have you heard the admissions process is difficult/competitive? There is a member of this forum who is presently enrolled in the BTH MBA and I am quite ceetain he will answer any questions you might have about the programme. Search the forum to locate previous threads discussing BTH. You stated you want a low-cost graduate degree yet keep finding excuses not to further investigate those suggestions put forth to you by members of this forum.
