Good news and bad news . . . When someone I know has disappeared, I Google their name and, on occasion, I find an obituary. In this cyber-age world, when our personal contacts, friends, and even relatives may be remotely located to us, someone’s passing will often go unannounced or uncommunicated. I recently tried getting hold of a friend in Philly who was a long-time theatre buddy and who had been in and out of the hospital with heart-related issues over many years. After a couple of months of trying his home number and figuring that he was simply back in the hospital, I finally received a disconnect recording. When I looked up his name on Google the first entry I found was his obituary – he had died some two months before. Anyway, the good news – there’s no obit on Ted. However, it turns out that his dad passed away four days ago. His funeral will be in three days, so I would think Ted is not checking into the forum during this time. The notice is at https://www.legacy.com/obituaries/portclintonnewsherald/obituary.aspx?n=ronald-l-heiks&pid=194127697&fhid=3172. (Incidental note: After a month, there are still no obits in the Orange County Register for Abner or Kim Ivora. So this method only works if someone has died and an obit has been published.) Obviously, all condolences and well wishes to Ted and his family.
Ted's dad was apparently quite a guy - there's a more detailed obit at https://www.crosserfuneralhome.com/obituary/Ronald-Heiks/Oak-Harbor-Ohio/1859562.
Which makes it time for a fun question. Yes, Ted has been absent since August 17, 2019. But Bruce has been absent since March 26, 2019, almost five months longer than Ted. And Randell123 has been absent since January 2, 2017, going on three years although still listed as a moderator. Therefore, why no concerned inquiries about Bruce, Randell, and other long-timers who have fallen through the cracks? ________ (For any newbies, all of these guys are long-time moderators here on D.I.)
Let's jump even further back in time and ponder over the disappearance of SurfDoctor. I miss that guy. We haven't heard from airtorn in a while either, but he's usually creeping in the shadows doing some undercover moderating work.
It be nice to have an update on these others DIers. I think I saw Randal as one of the Executives with Dr. Lady’s last operation.
Wow Ted! Just wow! I hope you're OK. You're OK? You must be OK because here you are, back at DI. Welcome back. I'm glad you're OK and back online with us.
Hope that things have been going better. Being in this hospital for long periods of time, is absolutely draining, on top of the underlying conditions.
Mark Knopfler was sorry to hear that, too. Glad to see you're back in action, Ted. Hope things are really good for you now. "He got the action, he got the motion - Yeah, the boy can play! Dedication, devotion Turnin' all the night time into the day..." Dire Straits
