best of luck to our friends in Texas and other affected areas Hurricane Harvey barrels toward coast as Texans prepare for worst | Fox News
They seem to have stopped predicting a path for Harvey: Atlantic 5-Day Graphical Tropical Weather Outlook Unless there's better info elsewhere. Stay safe.
Agreed. I flew into San Antonio today and wasn't paying any attention to the weather until the guys at Enterprise gave me a heads up when picking up my car. Tomorrow is going to be very wet and I hope I'm able to fly back home on Saturday. Good luck to everybody on the coast.
It looks like this thing might come right over Corpus Christi which is under a voluntary evacuation order. Many people have left, stores and businesses are being boarded up but Fox news reports there's still cars driving around. The TV shows water levels are already high in Corpus Christi bay, so they seem to be getting storm surge. But the sea walls haven't been topped yet. The TX National and State Guards are on alert, ready to move when ordered by the Governor. Trump is tweeting about the storm as we speak, says he had a briefing from DHS this morning and then they held a bigger meeting and he has been talking to the Governors of TX and LA. Warns people in both English and Spanish to heed state and local authorities. Homeland Security says that FEMA is moving supplies and urban search and rescue teams to Texas.

Hey Tireman, are you still online? Are you ok? What's happening where you are? Very scary TV reports about the Houston metro. Citywide flooding, roads impassable. Thousands of rescues in small boats. Thousands of National Guardsmen arriving with helicopters. Most creeks and bayous out of their banks. The National Weather Service says: "This event is unprecedented & all impacts are unknown & beyond anything experienced." https://twitter.com/NWSHouston https://twitter.com/TxDOTHoustonPIO
We are fine so far. Under a serious rain band dropping torrential downpours. Fine so far in Atascocita. Street is still draining fine
I know it's not the most important thing going on in Houston right now but NASA is getting flooded too. https://www.space.com/37976-harvey-flooding-johnson-space-center-houston-update.html
Also, because Houston is a hub for all sorts of chemical industries, there's lots of dangerous situations brewing. Here's an example 1.5 mile radius around Crosby plant evacuated amid risk of explosion | abc13.com
Good to know that the left is keeping things in perspective; https://twitchy.com/samj-3930/2017/08/28/vilest-of-the-vile-here-are-the-10-most-awful-hateful-political-takes-on-houston-so-far/
I haven't lived in San Antonio for three years. I'm in Austin. I'm a Texan and not the least bit bothered by what random people say on social media. You're going to hear horrid things from trolls on both sides. I saw racist tweets from the right about New Orleans and Houston (and also vile tweets about the people murdered and injured in Charlottesville), so it's whatever. The good Texans out there helping each other aren't worried about pointing out what a few random people say on Twitter to score political points. People on the right and left are helping people without regard to their political ideologies. But, if anyone is interested in some political but irrelevant tidbits, most of the areas affected by Hurricane Harvey are blue.
