Nero: If NCU continues to focus on revenue vice their product, their students and programs, it will die on the vine. If it desires to continue to admit "everyone" and enjoy a high attrition rate, it will suffer a reputatoin where few despite academic prowess and ability will attend and complete a terminal degree"

Probably all schools have a department that focuses on revenue (and expenses). California public colleges and universities are cutting back in all areas including staff, courses, and hours (My local CSU school is closed on Fridays) and services are deteriorating. Many of these schools have eliminated intersessions.

A school is a business - of course for-profit schools hope to make a profit - but if they try to make too high a profit their costs will increase and other for-profit schools will benefit.

Maybe this would make a dissertation project for someone.

I'm not a fan of the U of P and any careful search of my posts will bear that out. However, I've never said that a motivated person could not get a good education from that university. Also, I've never tried to convince anyone that they should not attend that school.

We all have opinions on all manner of subjects. Distance Learning is the main topic here at degreeinfo. It's reasonable to expect that there will be differences of opinion as clearly, there are different needs, different expectations and different experiences. What is clearly true is that there are many, many people who have had good experiences at U of P as well as NCU. I would hazard a guess that, in general, there is more positive opinion than negative about any/all of these schools. Otherwise the schools/programs would cease to exist.

I do not want to begin to restrict people's ability to express their opinions on any topic but I also don't want to provide a forum for an ongoing rant. We have had many conversations on this forum regarding the alleged differences between for-profit and not-for-profit schools. I hope these conversations continue. I am less interested in targeting/demonizing one specific school.

I hope this thread can continue along these general guidelines.

    * please note that i am not nor have i ever been a student of either uofp or ncu. thanks everybody.
