I don't think it's ever kosher to joke about someone dying.

It's not kosher. It's even worst that the comment was made against a great American War hero/POW. I am disgusted. Dying of cancer is not funny. The person that made that comment should have been fired!

And she works for a person who's famous for making firing people a performing art. Why isn't she fired yet?

Leads me to once again wonder if people have less decorum nowadays, or if people are just getting caught more often.

Well, who am I kidding? Whenever there's a sociological question between "this or that" the answer is pretty much always "both, and a few more things you forgot to mention."

When he was running for President against the sainted Barack Hussein Obama in 2008, McCain was absolutely trashed. He was a right-wing fanatic, he was crazy, suffering from post-traumatic stress from Vietnam, all kinds of insults and slurs.

Amazing how he's been rehabilitated now that he's become a leading never-Trumper opponent of the President (and of most Republican voters).

    I'm not surprised.

Of course not. But nobody was laughing at McCain's dying of cancer. They apparently were talking about McCain's opposition to the proposed new CIA director. She was confirmed despite McCain's objections. (I had some reservations about her too and might not have voted to confirm her had I been a Senator.) And somebody at the meeting noted that McCain's opposition wasn't likely to last very long. That's just a fact.

Then somebody leaked the remark ("a White House official told CNN") and CNN irresponsibly ran with it as usual, trying to stir shit with it, all the while keeping their source and his/her motives opaque. And all the while ignoring the real story (the leak of private/confidential White House conversations).

They should know all the individuals who were present at the meeting. It couldn't have been that big. Assuming the room wasn't bugged by the spooks, they should be able to figure out who the leaker was. That's the person who needs to be fired.

That's my take. Stating the fact is not mocking.

Yes. Private meetings are for the purpose of speaking without weighing every word. Some truly egregious comment leaking could be a good thing but this looks like a big nothing.

I don't remember stadiums chanting "lock-him-up!" on McCain, and conversely, remember very well that the MSM was always very deferential to him. So my hunch is you're overstating your case here. Then again, most "left"-trashing is dishonest, so what else is new? People criticized McCain as a hawk on foreign policy - still do, in fact. That's legitimate disagreement. IMHO, the right approach lies somewhere between McCain's "let's bomb 'em" eagerness and his hippy peacenik detractors. Eg., HRC positions. I do owe Mr. McCain an enduring debt as a consistent foil to Russian imperialism and a friend of Ukraine. As we do all for his work on non-proliferation.

You are sounding like that is not a legitimately admirable thing. It is.

Both boneheaded commenter and jarred leaker were hired by Trump. So have at it, folks; either way, it just nicely illustrates his famed management skills. Again.
