My Associate's alma mater (always a 2-year school since their inception in the 1950's) just recently received approval from the state Board of Higher Education and NEASC to offer 4-year degrees. From what I understand, the initial offerings will be limited to their most popular existing programs (Nursing, Criminal Justice, and Business), and perhaps they might expand later. It will be interesting to see what impact that has (if any) on the local state schools.
