While this is true. It still indicates a level of "corruption" by party leaders. Another example, apparently Republican leaders prior to the election knew that George Santos was a pathological liar that fabricated his resume.

It would appear so. My position does not relieve party leaders of their responsibilities and role in the Santos affair. But I do put it back on the voters because....they remain members of a party whose leaders would do this. They might be too late to prevent a Congressman George Santos, but they can subsequently decide not to be party to a party that would do that.

But why do they not? Because it's really not all that important to them. Sure, they'd rather not have Congressman Santos representing them, but not enough for them to dump their party. They didn't abandon the GOP because of Trump. They're sure not going to leave it because of this guy. And the leaders who knew about Santos, the ones who won't do anything about him still? They know, too, that those voters aren't going anywhere because of this. Or that. Or the other thing. It is very much part of the American condition.
