Bravo Gregg!! As usual your message was incredible (and quite volumey as well!)

But could you send an equally impressive missive to UoP to get these damn popups off my computer!

    Volumey pooping and popping

    I think you've coined a new word! ;)

Readers, here, can get in on the inside joke by first reading this thread, and then reading this one.

Well, and therein lies just one of the things about UOP that I don't like, as referred to in my letter, above. There are many more.

Sadly, you'd get too popped trying to get UOP to stop popping... so try downloading and installing this instead.

    Hope that helps.

I agree that Diloma Mills hurt the immage of fully accredited and respected DL providers.

But small and diminishing number of people still think that any non B&M metod of Academic education is not on the level and view it well not millish but second grade or lower quality.

They like to see their school in top 10 world wide listings etc.

I study better by DL than in the classroom setting.

I have to totally agree with Joann about the pop-up ads, I work for the UOP ground campus and people are so amazed we even exist, "aren't you that online University?" is what always comes out of their mouths.

Also, concerning the KWU adds, I don't think it's UOP's fault they are lumped in there w/ KWU, it's classesusa.com and the other advertisers faults that they let KWU advertise as if they were legitimate. What about St Leo, UMUC, Kaplan, Capella, Strayer, Tulane, Penn State's World Campus, FMU, Westwood, Walden, CCU, Embry-Riddle, Nova Southeastern, Touro, WGU, and all the other schools on there?

And Gregg, great letter, I am sure it's appreciated by employees of the school, I know it is by this one :)

    Put your money where...

Show it by granting me a free post-graduate certificate in... I dunno... something... and I'll believe you.

[Just kidding... er... well... you know... sort of.] ;)

UP was not handing out diplomas - directly opposite to a diploma mill. If UP was mill, then it is an enrollment mill, or a dropout mill. I guess nothing wrong with that, however, UP could have used a bit more resources on its image. We saying that UP is not a mill is like preaching to the converted; no minds are being changed. DIers know that UP is accredited. The question is what is UP doing about its image. Like in ethics the perception of doing something bad is just as bad as if act was committed. It is UP obligations to the thousands of graduates to change the narrative. UP should learn one of its own lessons and bring out a crisis management team. Just winning legal battles may not be enough.
There was a similar discussion on DI in 2005. http://www.degreeinfo.com/general-distance-learning-discussions/19051-university-phoenix-labelled-diploma-mill.html

I don't think that's an ethical principal. Maybe a marketing principal.

You may be right. In auditing, the perception of ... will/may damage an auditor's independent regardless of the facts. Anyway, I posted here by mistake. I only wanted to copy the link to post in the other discussion on UP.
