To buy or not to buy (regalia)?

It comes from "Star Drek" by Bobby Pickett ("Monster Mash"). It contains exchanges like:

Captain Jerk: "Bridge to Engineering."
Snotty: "Snot here, captain."
Captain Jerk: "What's not there, Snotty?"
Snotty: "Huh"?

And so it goes.

 

Speaking of Royal Navy Rum Ration, at the time it was abolished, (July 31 1970) the rum ration was about 71 ml - 2.4 ounces of 95.5 proof rum. One really stiff drink. Ok - a drink and a half. In the 18th Century it was 10 oz. per day. That's sozzled! How'd they build an Empire?

@Rich Douglas. Thanks! I was 19 in 1962, when "Monster Mash" came out. Loved it - Boris Karloff accent, etc. I never knew Bobby "Boris" Pickett had made other songs, because I never heard any others. I'll have to look him up....

 

I am a lifetime fan of the Dr Demento Show which routinely played "Star Drek." It came out in the mid-'70s when the show was off the air but the resurgence in the movies had not yet started.

 

Bobby Pickett - 1938-2007. He is credited with a large and varied amount of musical, acting and writing work. "Monster Mash" was turned down by all major labels. When it was picked up by Gary S. Paxton, it went on to become a million-seller.

"Monster Mash" was a parody of "Mashed Potato Time" sung by Dee Dee Sharp. It even follows the tune. Pickett took it to #1 and it again went to #10 later.

I'm glad to say Dee Dee is still with us - she's 77 now.

She was about 17 when she made "Mashed Potato Time" (I was 19-20) and I remember pictures of her. Very nice-looking girl. And yes, "Monster Mash" actually charted 4 times: 1962, 1970, 1973 and the latest in 2021!

 

Verdict: I ordered the regalia through Oak Hall. I paid $1034.37.
Although Liberty's commencement page now lists Oak Hall as the supplier, Herff Jones still sells the custom regalia.

I saved a whopping $24!

 

The layout is similar to our regalia from Virginia Univeristy of Lynchburg.

 

I ended up canceling my Oak Hall order when they charged my card $1,165. They claimed it's the price they have with Liberty.

I ordered through Herff Jones for $1,058. I used them before when I graduated in May 2021, and was very satisfied.
