If you would care to check the Hong Kong Companies register http://www.icris.cr.gov.hk/csci/ before pontificating your wrongly held views you will find the Institute of E-Commerce Consultants Ltd which is now known as the International Academy of Project Management Ltd. this is the company that issued these certificates completely legally under Hong Kong law and to which Mentz has no connection

    What a Ridiculous Statement

None of these designations have any trademark ownership anywhere.

OMG! how awfull one might have to attend a course similar to any other normal organisation and also to sit and pass an exam rather than send in your CV with $300 for a useless piece of paper that says more about your total inadequacies than the people that sell it to you.

    .

Do your homework before making false statements please. IAPM and IAFM are owned by Brett Andrew King

Well done that man/woman. Send me your CV you are clearly a high intelligent and qualified project manager to have gained such a prestigious certification.

  2. In the United States, neither a trademark (TM) nor a copyright (©) need to be registered (®) in order to enjoy full legal protection. All one has to do is claim one on an original idea or work, and the principles of common law on intellectual property rights are in effect.

Nice job of selective cut and paste. :)
I can only assume given your response that I are either Mr. Wylie or Mr. King, not that I care either way.

    But to your comments:
Re: E-Commerce Consultant - I didn't say anything about legally issuing them, only that both are claiming fraud and pointing to the same cert pdf as evidence of the others wrongdoing.

Re: IAPM vs IPMA - speaks for itself. A new "international organization" pops up and just happens to have almost the same acronym? Umm, Okay.

Re: attending a proprietary course to achieve certification - no, no other 'legitimate' PM organization makes you pay for a course run by them to get their certifications. 'Companies' offer the course/certification package, not associations.

Re: Trademark ownership - Don't care. IAPM accuses AAPM of fraud, but offers the same designation (and both claim trademark rights) as AAPM.

Re: ownership of IAPM - again, don't care. Wasn't important (and I said "apparently".) I assumed either King or Wylie owned it. You confirmed it. Point was both used to be a part of AAPM until an acrimonious split.

Bottom line, both "associations" are a joke in the PM world.

Great to see that the overall discussion topic has not deteriorated or diverted tangentially
