Thanks Ted: Those all look like interesting programs, if you quit your day job maybe you can do 2 at a time :)

I consider being 1/2 DR. a badge of honor that I hesitate to change.

Maybe I'm a purest then but to me the idea of a 1/2 doctor is a little off. You are one now and I hope to join you someday, but I would never say I was a 1/2 doctor.

:) I wouldn't worry about it, the title Dr. and $5 will get you a cup of coffee. Man, $5 isn't what it used to be.

Then why do we go through this process again? ;)

So, if the title Dr. and $5 gets you a cup of coffee, would that mean that a cup of coffee would cost $7.50 if you're a 1/2 Dr. and $10 if you're no Dr. at all?

Hey, half off isn't bad. ;) Not sure about the ROI but then again, I'm not old enough for a senior discount.

Ted, when do you plan on starting a doctorate? Which schools do you have in mind?

First things first: MA in Interdisciplinary Studies/History & Political Science, Western New Mexico University (projected start date: Spring or Summer 2009, depending on financial aid approvals; expected date of graduation: Fall 2010 or Spring 2011).

Fantasy History Doctorate: PhD, Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences/History & Literature, Union Institute & University (projected start date: Spring or Summer 2011; expected date of graduation: 2014-2018?). Or maybe Harrison Middleton University or American Military University.

Fantasy Business Doctorate: PhD in Business Administration/Electronic Commerce, Northcentral University. And a few other possibilities.

Fantasy Political Science Doctorate: Possibly some UK-style dissertation-only PhD that will allow a dissertation on the role of comic books & cartoons in the political socialization of children.

Maybe a few other doctorates, depending on how much lifetime & how much money is left.

Interestingly, I did a great deal of the degree “on the road” as I am this week. I am going through degree withdraw, because I find now not only am I board, but literally the thing I’ve been doing for a very long time I don’t need to do anymore. I have a 30/40 hour a week hole I’m going to have to figure out how to fill, I truly am a little depressed…

    Weird.

I have been through that before. Although, I took a couple of months off with the excuse that that the book I ordered was not coming, so how could I start a new class? As if I could not just cancel the order and order a new book. Anyway, I finally received a new book, and will start a new class on 12/16/08.

I did see you are toying with the idea of a big three degree. Those degrees are a darn good deal, as I have said before. I am going for a BA in labor studies at TESC after I am done with my MBA.

Take care and go to the gym with all that extra time. As I tell my students, "Give me 50 push ups!!!!!!" "Move it, move it, move it, move it!!!!!!".

    Abner :)

Whoa whoo hold on, there is no need to use the "gym" word here. I'm an old guy, and that is just wrong :)

    Thanks for the encouragement Abner.
