THought this was interesting...But really not surprising... http://www.taxfoundation.org/news/show/2286.html "Overall, we find that America's lowest-earning one-fifth of households received roughly $8.21 in government spending for each dollar of taxes paid in 2004. Households with middle-incomes received $1.30 per tax dollar, and America's highest-earning households received $0.41. Government spending targeted at the lowest-earning 60 percent of U.S. households is larger than what they paid in federal, state and local taxes" So almost 60% of what the "Evil Rich" pay goes to other people! And since the military makes up almost 34% of the budget, the rest it seems to me goes to national defense with the other 7% going to the only public services they use such as police, fire, and roads. So does that mean that the taxes I pay should be tax deductable as "charity" since that what it seems to be. Just wondering...
Hey Lou, since we were disagreeing elsewhere, I thought I'd take the opportunity to agree with you here. This is why it always bothers me when people talk about the wealthy paying their "fair share". Seems their fair share would be a 59% tax cut.... -=Steve=-
We have agreed before Steve..ur an ok guy.... Its great that we can talk, disagree, and still be nice...thats why I like this place.. Your right a big tax cut or maybe even some gratitude...Thats what really pisses me off...people who get the most complain the most. Sorry for this sexist comment, but it reminds me of every women I have ever dated(except my current wife ) What is enough..how much is enough....I think 20 times the amount they pay is more than sufficent...But no...I should feel guilt because I strive to obtain success....total crap... But the dems new budget calls for giant tax increases for those who pay the most already...I dont mind pay a fair PERCENTAGE...but the progressive structure is unfair... I want to pay my fair share..not everyone elses fair share...
Actually, I myself was wondering what you, Rich, could possibly have done that was so "evil." I'm quite relieved, too.
Speaking of Rich... Mr. Rich, Sir: I heard that you attended Union. I've been considering earning my PhD at the Institute and would be interested in your feedback on their process. Thanks much, Jacob
