Only a few AACSB B-schools waive the GMAT. UTexas is one, IIRC, that waives it with certain caveats...like a certain undergrad GPA, a CPA license or another Masters and/or Law degree.

I don't think Chadron State College is AACSB accredited, they are ACBSP.

    Hi!!

Yeah you are right...makes me wonder if they are pursuing AACSB accreditation??

ACBSP, i believe does not require a GMAT score.

Hypothetical situation, that I need some advice on...

Originally, I had hoped to get into Oklahoma State, but of course my GMAT scores were extremely low. I assume that my chance are low, if not impossible...seeing how they (OSU) only admit approximately half of all applicants in the pool. So, I took the acceptance at Chadron gratefully.

Now, I find out this week, officially of whether or not I got into Oklahoma State...if by some chance I get accepted, do I stick with Chadron or do I attend Oklahoma State...

Here are some quick facts (MBA):
Oklahoma State: 250.00 per credit hour
Chadron State: 210.00 per credit hour
    Oklahoma State: AACSB
    Chadron State: ACBSP
    Chadron State: 36 hr Program
    Oklahoma State:36 hr Program
    Oklahoma State: numerous proctored exams
    Chadron State: few proctored exams

Proctored exams do not bother me, and I am not all that concerned about name recognition either...both schools are very solid state schools...
As far as utility of the degree, which has the most, especially considering I will need it to get a job in the civilian sector after my 20 years of military duty is up??

Any advice is welcomed...of course this is mere speculation at this point...just looking for ideas so I can make a sound decision if I am faced with this scenario...

Hi Chris - You've given us lots of information pertaining to your current situation. However, there is one thing that that you've left out. You never told us why you originally preferred Oklahoma State over Chadron. We don't need to know. You just need to remember. Then you'll have your answer.

Very good point! I originally chose Chadron...then once I heard about the tuition break for military at Oklahoma State...I guess it was a knee jerk reaction towards Oklahoma State...I mean a Big 12 football powerhouse that has very affordable tuition for military, in an online flexible format! :D uggghhhh

With that small a difference in tuition, I would definitely choose Oklahoma State over Chadron, due to name recogntion and AACSB accreditation.

Provided he gets in with a low GMAT score I would say the same thing. People tend to associate quality with accreditation and name recognition, be it the reality or not, and Oklahoma State would probably provide more bang for the buck.

Definitely OSU, their military tuition is great considering the quality of the school. Regular tuition being $295/cr, I envy you! :p

Yeah the tuition at OSU is a great deal! Of course Chadron is really cheap as well...as much as I hate admitting it, name recognition has its place in the decision making process, as Chadron is very rarely considered Nebraska State, or even State University of Nebraska at Chadron, as is SUNY at Fredonia (where my wife graduated from.) Yet, they are all in the same category of state institutions. Tough decisions...of course this will be a lot easier as soon as I find out I was non-admitted to OSU ( I am a moron for not studying for the GMAT  )

So...today I got the official "denial of admittance" into Oklahoma State...for reasons of test scores. I guess it makes my decision to attend Chadron that much easier :)

I am ok with it though...Chadron is a great school. I will get a quality education from them.

    Thanks for all the help!

    Chris
