    Hi All,

I am looking to jump into the online college course thing and am wondering
if anyone knows of any resources where I could find accredited institutions
(not necessarily in the US) that will allow me to take a college course over
the summer online for credit. I am currently studying at the University of
Virginia. I'm interested mainly in courses on history and literature for the
    summer.

I've tried the search engines and haven't had much luck. Thanks all!

    Marcus,

Because I registered today at BYU for a class I needed, I thought I'd respond. Take a look at their online courses. They have several history and humanities courses. Didn't check literature.
    www.byu.edu.
I was told that you can finish them at your own pace, max of 1 year, but not less than 2 weeks. Takes 48 hours from time class is completed to get the info to the registrar for transcript purposes.

This will be my first class with them, so I can't provide any other info. I am taking it for a job related requirement.

I also registered recently for a BYU correspondence class. Delivery of materials was very fast- ordered Friday and arrived Monday. The course manual is very well prepared, and the instructor has a stellar background in the discipline. For many courses, you can choose on-line or paper modes of delivery. Even with a paper course manual, you can often submit assignments over the Internet. So far my experience with them has been very positive- much more so than with correspondence courses I have done elsewhere.

    Dear Alex,

    Greetings!

It could be useful to know that BYU is one of the few institutions (or perhaps the only one) that offers a distance certificate in piano/organ.

    I hope this helps.

    Politely yours,

Interesting.. thank you for the information! And these courses I assume are good for credit? Just like any other institution? I checked online and couldn't find the info.. I just wanted to be sure.

    Thanks!

    Marcus,

The following URL will take you to the correspondence courses (including on-line courses). Most are for credit.
