You really might not want to go there. I may not agree with everything he posts, but he doesn't come across as crazy, whereas you often do.

    Really?

    Your fellow lefties don't seem to agree with you;

Bernie Sanders Says Ann Coulter Has Right to Speak at Berkeley ?Without Fear of Violence and Intimidation? - Hit & Run : Reason.com

If it's "mythology", then why on Earth would Bernie Sanders say that Coulter should be allowed to speak without fear of violence and intimidation? Where did he get that idea from?

Any why is Bill Maher comparing it to book burning?

Observe that I posted a link to WaPo article reporting the same Sanders statement. I'm not a Bernie Bro at the least, but the man is often right, as he is in this case. The students (or whoever that was) should let the racist scarecrow speak. However, she is hardly "silenced"; the Left (let alone Berkeley troublemakers who do not represent the school let alone "the Left") does not have power to silence anyone.
Also, are you quoting Bill Maher to prove your point? Really? "Book burning" comment is pretty out there. Why did he made it? To achieve the best entertainment value - doing his job.

Thank you for saying that. It shows integrity.

My guess is that most of the so-called "antifa" rioters aren't UC students. The city of Berkeley is a strange place sociologically. A large segment consists of a weird 60's time-warp, especially along Telegraph Avenue. It isn't just old grey-haired drug-addled hippies and their younger emulators, it's self-styled "activists" as well. Berkeley is the place to go if you're an 'activist'. (In Berkeley, 'activist' is a career title like 'dentist', it's one of the ways people respond if you ask them what they 'do'. It's their 'job', their career. "I'm an environmental activist" or whatever it is. There are even schools that exist to train activists.) But most of them have nothing to do with the University of California, and just live in its aura.

And Berkeley's kind of a resort as well for kids living away from home for the first time, a favored hang-out for teens and 20-somethings from all over, attracted by the 24 hour anything-goes sex and drugs. They think that they own the place, that it's their turf, and they can get violent when they perceive outsiders they don't like invading that turf.

One of the black-clad 'antifa' rioters who was photgraphed brutally beating a Patriot's day demonstrator over the head with a heavy bike-lock was identified as a young local community college ethics instructor when his mask slipped off his face. (Ironic... but don't expect him to be fired or even arrested.) The guy has no direct connection to UC Berkeley, though he apparently likes to hang out around there and soak up the vibes.

In a strange sort of way UC Berkeley students are strangers in their own city. For one thing, they study. A lot. Berkeley assigns a huge amount of work and it's famously competitive. That's not really consistent with the rampant sex and drugs libertine culture south of campus. So many students stay kind of aloof from all that and the people who come to Berkeley for the life-style are a different crowd. Faculty, graduate students and researchers have traditionally lived north of campus (a more sedate and mature area). And many Berkeley students these days are no-nonsense Asian students who would rather get together to study calculus than get drunk at nightclubs. My impression is that many Berkeley students are more politically moderate than the school's administrators (many of whom got their jobs for political reasons) and many of its baby-boom era professors, and far more moderate and self-disciplined than the town around them. I think that there are more conservative Berkeley students than most people think, but they learn to keep their mouths shut and maintain a low profile.

Imagine the screaming and the angst if militant right-wingers descended on Berkeley like Hitler's brown-shirts, dressed all in black, armed with clubs and other potentially deadly weapons, determined to silence any speaker they disagreed with and to injure and even kill anyone daring to participate in any demonstration for causes other than their own. The police would be on them in an instant (as they should) and the righteous denunciations would be fast and furious. All of the public figures who currently make excuses for the rioters would suddenly be posturing like cirque du soleil gymnasts to defend the principle of "free speech". The news media would shriek: "Liberalism!!! Open Minds!!! Tolerance!!! Non-violence!!!" But now? The mayor blames the violence on Trump. (His evilness 'triggers' the demonstrators, don't you see?) The Chancellor of UC Berkeley says all the right things, but orders the the campus police to stand down and refuses to allow them to confront rioters and won't call in mutual aid from the city police and other local jurisdictions.

Some journalists reported witnessing a pro-Trump demonstrator getting the shit kicked out of him in a recent demonstration. The journalist walked up to police who were placidly watching the assault, and pointed the assault and battery out to them. The response? "Ok, so...?" Somebody was being savagely beaten right in front of them and they acted like it was none of their concern. The journalist asked if they were under orders not to intervene. The cops told the journalist to talk to their media relations people.

So people that the local city and university bosses disagree with are beaten into silence, all under the cover of 'plausible deniability'. It wasn't us! We don't approve of the violence! We deplore it! So the bosses get what they want while smelling like a rose in the left-media. That's how they've engineered things.

Great. Be sure to tell the millions of voters who will vote according to the "baseless assumption" to....like...not to.

So cancelling her speaking event is not trying to silence her?

After a backlash of criticism for cancelling her speaking event, the school tried to reschedule it for when students will be taking their final exams or won't be on campus, that's not trying to silence her?

It's always amusing to watch lefties try to defend the indefensible, so have at it.....

Oh, so when he bashes Trump, he's a brilliant political commentator, but when he points out the elephant in the living room, he's to be dismissed?

The thing is, there is an industry supplying these kinds of excuses for people to vote for whoever they wanted to begin with. If you want to base your vote for Congress in... let's say Georgia... on what people of no party affiliation are doing in Berkeley CA, sure, go ahead. If this didn't happen, you'd vote because of "FEMA concentration camps" or whatever inane thing Madonna said recently.

If anything, this commotion gave this racist entertainer bigger platform than she had or deserved. In no way is she "silenced". What people did was posturing ("protest" "leaders"), recreational violence ("activists"), and cowardly CYA by admins.

Maher? He is a comedian, not a commentator. He makes a good point now and then, but these stand on their merits, not his reputation. "Book burning" is not a good metaphor. Personally, I'm not a particular fan of his. But it's interesting that you argue that bashing Trump enhances one's credibility. Don't get me wrong, I agree, but it's interesting coming from you.

Now you get it! I'm sure that those of a certain political persuasion WILL receive support following Madonna's "remodeling" plans for the White House!

You never know. We have a recent example of an entertainment icon spewing inane political statements several times a day, and it seemed to only help him. Not only Madonna is a far more successful entertainer than Donald Trump, she also demonstrates far greater intelligence by not believing that success qualifies her for the presidency! So those of "certain political persuasion" scoring points on quoting Madonna demonstrate their great hypocrisy. As always. And their supporters, a great gullibility - no surprise there either.

Do you get your talking points straight from Soros and Media Matters??? You repeat word for word the same material they publish. I mean, word for word talking points.

Really??? MM are that behind the times huh? Story of "militia" members who were also active duty U. S. Army "executing" a "traitor" was quite a long tome ago.

But I take it that you agree with my points, right?

I can find online blogs with lies, distortions, and doctored video clips.

I'd like to know exactly what positions that Ann Coulter has that are racist. Since you believe it so passionately, it should be easy for you to answer the question.

He took a loan from his father and turned it into a fortune.

If it was all daddy's money, how come no one had ever heard of his dad before Donald became famous?
