They offer a bunch of fairly unusual programs (or programmes for the Brits). But I'm rather skeptical how well some of these subjects can be delivered entirely by distance learning. Chemical Engineering (both BSc and MSc) and Prosthetics and Orthotics (MSc) caught my eye, but these are very hands-on. (In the Prothetics and Orthotics case, literally.) So this might be best for a part-time student in the Glasgow area who anticipates taking some classes on campus. I skimmed through the Chemical Engineering pdf prospectus, but it was all about university administrative procedures and next to nothing about course delivery.

My impression, from way over here in California, is that Strathclyde is kind of a middle-rank British university in terms of reputation. Not knock-em dead Oxbridge prestigious (St. Andrews in Scotland approaches that) but not weak or obscure either. Strathclyde's strength seems to be in engineering and (arguably) less-tony subjects like that. So some of its engineering programs may have more powerful reputations than the school as a whole (which again, isn't bad). In Kizmet's Massachusetts terms, it might be like attending Northeastern as compared to Harvard or MIT. A student could do a lot worse.
