LOL. Yes, I think we can beat their price. I am 100% sure we can top the quality, also. This is a top-notch board. If everything works out, it should go very well.

But we have the competitivge advantage of size. And we are a good board. If you build it, they will come. And, we can beat them on price. The crooks on the other board take this stuff for free and then charge for it (when they have zero cost of goods). A board made up of unpaid volunteers ought to give away for free info that was freely given to them.

I also have noticed that this board is more oriented toward Master's and PhDs, whereas Instantcert is almost exclusively about CLEPs & "The Big Three." That is why I never post here, just been lurking around until I come up with a grad school plan...

Anyways, if they do go for a exam specific feedback section here, I will participate, but I don't blame Instantcert for trying to keep their heads above water, either. I can play in both forums. Hope it all works out!

    Ted,

    Well put!

I wonder if IC is going to compensate the posters on the specific feedback forum. After all, since they contributed to the product, shouldn't there be compensation?

Precisely. There should be, but there probably won't be. Mind you, I don't mind freely contributing to a discussion board if they freely give away the information to those that need it. What would gall me would be if some discussion board owner started charging people for information that I gave to him, her, or it for free.

Merely because degreeinfo has historically dealt supposedly "mostly with master's and doctoral degrees" is no reason to say thar degreeinfo cannot attempt to start covering "testing out" procedures, the Big Three, or any other aspect of distance learning outside of the graduate programs. As for Instacert, I'm sure their management team can decide for themselves what "turf" they wish to cover.

    Fine.

I don't blame Instacert either. But it does gall me when some shills for Instacert come over here and, with one post or twenty-four posts, start acting like as if they're going to say what areas degreeinfo.com can or cannot cover.

Good luck trying to "play in" both forums. I can tell you from hard personal experience that "playing in" two forums often doesn't work that well.

Well, sorry! I wasn't trying to get in an argument about it! Geez!

I don't believe Ted was trying to set into an argument - he was just bringing up some feedback to your post based on his years of DL experience.

We can squabble or we can take action. All we need is the new sub-forum, and we can get to work creating a great community of people that want to freely help others to prepare for and pass exams for credit.

The InstantCert shills are never going to see it our way. They chose a certain course of action that they have every right to. We need to choose to create our own forum and move forward. We have every right to create a free forum that will provide an opportunity for users to freely contribute to the success of other users. InstantCert does NOT have a monopoly on creating forums for users to discuss exam contents and preparation materials.

    Let's move forward.

I agree - I sent a PM to Chip who is the board administrator. We'll see what happens.

Okay. I was simply trying to point out that Instacert can make any decisions it wants about how to run its business and degreeinfo can likewise make any decisions it wants about how to run its business. I happen to think it is slightly unethical of Instacert to take information for free, offer it for free for awhile, and then swap horses in mid-stream by charging people for info they got for free. Perhaps it wouldn't be so galling if they had offered compensation to those who had so generously given free info for years. It does also seem foolish to charge for info if some competitor can swoop in and offer the same info for free, especially given that the Big Three appeal to a price sensitive market. I was also merely pointing out that one need not occupy just one tiny little niche market, but rather that it is possible to move into other markets once one has established oneself in the first market. I'm also not threatening you when I say that it is not always possible to "play in" two competing foums; I'm simply noting that I tried that and it didn't work too well. Good luck to you, whichever forum (or forums) you choose to post in!

Excellent post. I agree completely. For me, this is not personal and is not an argument.

Well, alright then, as long as my exam feedback is welcome, I don't mind participating in an exam feedback section of this forum. I just want to help others if I can. That's all.
