Exactly and this will work in the favour of NEOS since they are a new school. Seems like SMC is trying to raise less controversy.

Looking at the website of NEOS Business School https://neoseducation.com/about/ TEd Sun is a faculty there too. Seems like SMC is involved in this school. As long as the degrees are accredited them it's good to go especially for career advancement.

A lot of the faculty are SMC faculty. This might be SMC's route to accreditation

Yeah, I was going to say they're probably not just a broker, they're probably organisationally related, with this being SMC's long term plan to solve the institutional accreditation issue once and for all. SMC has built a decent reputation, this way they get to keep trading on it until their replacement structure has done the same.

I agree. well when I'm done with my Masters will decide where to turn. I am tending more towards a DBA as I want a professional doctorate, not an academic one.

    Good morning all-
Not landing on either side of this; all I can offer is my own experience. I am an American ABD in the DBA program at SMC University, hoping to defend in the next month. I started the program when I was stationed with the U.S. military in Germany.
My personal experience has been very positive. I have two master's degrees from brick and mortar institutions in the States, but the program at SMCU has had a much more profound effect on how I think things through and process them. As doctoral level study is extremely self driven, I suppose the outcome will typically be the result of what you put into it. For me, it was a very good investment.

Full disclosure - my doctoral studies are not related to career advancement, only to cap my business education. In that regard, I am extremely satisfied.

Obviously you're entitled to your opinion but just as obviously you are landing on one side

I would venture that it might be acceptable for me to have an opinion about my own experience. My comment about not landing on a side referred to the current state of SMC University's degree awarding methodology. My apologies if I was unclear.

Uh-oh. I think something is happening here. I just went to the NEOS site and it "refuses to connect." Down for the count? Or more changes?

Oh, dear. I got the same result. At this point I am in for a penny - in for a pound, but any additional information uncovered on this would be most appreciated.
I did complete all course work before the ABCSP certification was dropped, so it is supposed to carry over. I guess we will see.

It's been down for a year. There's a post about this here from last May.

Down for a year. That tells you something, no?

Boy, I sure hope they have ASIC accreditation. That would really put my mind at ease right now...

It´s been a minute I came here. So went to the SMC University site and can see Neos has evolved into SMC Education Group and only does the Executive MBA, they still say prior accreditation from Malta exists. The website is https://www.smc.ac/ Now I sound like an SMC broker :emoji_rolling_eyes:

At 20,075 US dollars (18,500 Euro) for an exec. MBA there are a lot of choices out there - US, UK or elsewhere. Degrees with unassailable pedigree in many cases. Why bother with this particular school?

OK. Final verdict on SMC University. Educational Credential Evaluators (ece.org) rates the DBA from SMC University as study at a non-regionally accredited institution.

If you want a solid business education, SMC University is a viable option. If that education has to result in credentials you can use in the United States, it is not.

Even if this evaluated as RA it wouldn't really matter. This is the sort of school that requires explanation. Even if SMC evaluated as RA equivalent I would not be at all surprised if you got more utility out of certain NA degrees.
