Was Bruce even an Administrator as of 03-14-2003, the date of the original post?

This thread came and went before my time, but I went ahead and voted for "Vichy Chicks" because it was clever, even though I discgree with its premise.

Unlike the Dixie Chicks, I don't have to be ashamed of Bush, as I never claimed him in the first place, nor do I endorse the system that allowed him to have this sort of power.

It seems like the MAJORITY of the American people didn't claim him in the first place. :D

I came across this thread, and after a few years, thought it would be interesting to see how perceptions have changed.

Oh, yes, I've been an Admin since almost the inception of this site. However, I pride myself on not letting my political views influence my moderating decisions, to the point that I almost go too far in that regard.

This poll/thread was intended to get a chuckle and/or stimulate discussion, nothing more or less.

Freedom of speech, naturally. However, the poll might have included some positive names for a little balance and an option for those that actually approved of what the Dixie Chicks said.

I find it interesting that the celebraties that said that there were no WMD in Iraq still seem to be demonized even though they turned out to be right and I turned out to be wrong along with the adminstration.

Bill, your opinion was wrong since you didn't have any facts to back up your opinion nor were you in any position to back it up unless you had your very own spy satellite. The administration is a different story.

I remember when this whole WMD thing was going on, CNN went out to a farm in Idaho or Kansas and asked the owner of the farm if she thought if Iraq had WMD's.... and her response was... "Yeah, I think he's got 'em". What the heck? Who were they asking? A Kansas farm owner?

Right after the interview, I'm sure she took off to the local general store and bought some plastic sheet and duct tape for when Saddam's remote control drones were going to cross the Middle East, European Union and Atlantic Ocean (evading all international radar stations) and swoop down and spray Hickstown, Kansas with chemicals.

What about the local Deputy Sherrif in Averagetown, USA (pop. 2,300) that was keeping his eyes open for suspicious activities or people that looked out of place. Oh boy....

It's all about mass hysteria. Most Americans could not locate Iraq on a map. They probably think it's due west of Canada. In fact, they probably couldn't find Canada on the map. It's not their fault, they are a product of their society and American culture (i.e. McDonald's, Taco Bell, Baseball).

What now? The North Korean missles are coming!!!

Come on everybody, lighten up on Bruce. Let it be said I think the Dixie Chicks are cool, and I don't even like country! Having said that, Bruce is a fair and balanced person. He is the sole moderator of this forum, no easy task!

If you don't agree with Bruce, just say so, but do not attack him pesonally. This is America, and we are all entitled to our opinions.

    Just my two cents!

    Abner :)

Scott, you're certainly welcome to post your own political poll, as is anyone else.

As long as it doesn't contain personal attacks against non-public figures, have at it.

I like the group and I was surprised that one of them spoke their mind like that - I watched them on Larry King a short while ago where the very subject arose... and she stood her ground and said that she'd do it again.

Say what you want, but the mess G.W. is leaving behind globally will take decades to clean up - I pity the foo' who takes office after G.W.... and I quote:

"You never know what your history is going to be like until long after you're gone." —George W. Bush, Washington, D.C., May 5, 2006

    Long March

NPR hasn't picked up on that name change, and I don't pay attention to any other American news media. Have the commercial ones bought into that?

    (The BBC hasn't either.)

I would say that "The Long War" is pretty mainstream now. BBC, NPR and the rest...

As I voted "Other," let me suggest "Opinionated Southern Spitfires."

I think this was the thinking that got the country into the war in the first place. With an American casualty count at 21,329 (as of July 11, 2006) it was definately not painless.

I was referring to the invasion of Iraq. If you don't think that was quick and relatively painless, you must have been watching different news accounts than I did.

And, as I predicted, the common Iraqis have welcomed the US with open arms (did you see them celebrating when Al-Zarqawi was killed?). The great majority of insurgents are from outside Iraq.

In any event Scott, if you want the last word, you can have it, then I'm closing this thread. It's gone way beyond the sarcastic piece of humor it was intended to be, and something like this belongs in the Political Discussions forum. This thread is just so old, it pre-dates that section.
