It is with great pleasure and pride that my wife and I announce that our boy/girl twins have been graciously bestowed with Doctoral degrees from the Millard Fillmore Institute by President John Bear, on the occasion of their second birthday. Cameron Tait earned a Doctor of Child Psychology, while Elizabeth Tait is now a Doctor of Elementary Education.

So, for $1.52 in postage, my 2-year old children now have higher degrees than their father, who slaved away taking courses for 10+ years. :D

The diplomas are getting framed, and will be hung above their cribs, since they are more impressive than any of my diplomas!

Despite being posting tongue-in-cheek, expect this to reverberate on a.e.d. , where are longtime loser has begun responding there to things posted here.

Again, as with L.I.A.R. and other such novelties, diplomas are bought, but degrees are not awarded. This is a point lost on folks like the a.e.d. stalker.

    Bruce,
It will take a little getting used to calling them "doctors" instead of children.

How does this sound: your parents and in-laws come over to visit for Thanksgiving. When they are greeted at the door by their grandchildren, their first words could be "and how are the little doctors today?".:D

:D LOL Next thing, they'll be filing for custody of you and your wife as your guardians.

My 2 1/2 year old son was actually a student on the final year of a degree course ( just before his first birthday!) at a UK University.

His mother returned to complete her final year of the degree as a mature student after several years away. However, she was having difficulty with child care during one of the courses and informed the faculty that she would have to withdraw from the course. They offered to let her take him into the class (it was a practical class for a biology degree and involved visits to the natural history section of the local museum to prepare a/v materials for exhibits). So ok for children. But for insurance purposes he would have to be a student so they enroled him onto the course. They even made him sit through the safety lecture so that the box could be ticked on the form. When my partner pointed out that he would not understand the safety lecture the lecturer laughed and asked her if that would be any different from the other students. So as not to disadvantage the other students she had to accept her son as lab partner for this continually assessed course. It meant more work for her but at least she could stay on the course.

Its nice to see academia make someones life easier for a change rather than just sticking to the rules. It also gets me out of the endless does your son walk/run/talk yet conversations with other parents. It takes all the pressure off when you can reply that he is already at University!!! :D

Hi Dave: That's just about the best funny university story I've heard here. Nothing like riding your tricycle up Mount Parnassus.

They probably won't, since they were done with crayons and construction paper. :D
