Duke is gone. His land deal and other intertwinings with lobbyists have done him in. He'll be lucky to stay out of jail.

    Funny post, Bill!

Okay! We did finally get someone who voted for the smarmy upscale urbanites! So it is not a total shutout!

    O Canada!

In the meantime, have you considered Canada?

He’s OK, even though he did raise taxes after he said he wouldn’t. He couldn’t have done it without the Republicans in the legislature.

    The NRA says he’s alright.

He’s pro-abortion, but thinks there should be limits (on partial birth/late term abortions) and parental notification.

He and Senator George Allen are potential presidential candidates. I’d love to see that race. There’s also a good chance that Warner will run against Allen for his Senate seat. If he won, both of Virginia’s senators would be Senator Warner.

And, Warner did attend the Bilderberg Meeting this year.

I like him. He's been successful as a Democratic governor in a decidedly Republican state. I think he's Presidential timber.

You might want to check with Gov. Huckabee before handing over that deed.

Interesting thread, but let's make it a little more personal . . .

Which of the following would you most want as your next-door neighbor?

    - Jimmy Clifton
    - Rich Douglas
    - Neil Hayes
    - Sheila Danzig
    - Uncle Janko

    ?

    DISCLAIMERS:
    1. The names I listed are merely personalities here on the forum is not intended to speak to credible-versus-not credible - they are merely personalities. I did include some credible regulars. And some not so credible.

    2. I did not include John Bear because, obviously, everyone would choose him over the others. As well they should - he's as much a fun guy as he is the ultimate guru on distance ed. I also did not include myself, because obviously people would choose me over the others as well. But I digress . . . :D

    3. To all the others I didn't list, well, I guess you're just not significant enough. :p

  10. As much as I like Uncle Janko, my choice is Clifton, hands down....

I can just imagine the fun we'd have tormenting each other endlessly about religion and politics, as good neighbors ought to do.....

Clifton on the belief he'd mind his own business.

    No Levicoff there.

    Any pharmacists in your woodpile?

As I recall, Mark Warner's entry into the public fray was to run against John Warner in a failed attempt to unseat him.

Hands down, Janko. I don't know Shiela, I don't trust Neil, I agree with Jimmy, Rich drives me nuts, but Janko, never know what to expect.

I find it "curious" that the "intellectuals" can't figure out how to win an election?

Why is it that they keep getting their asses handed to them by a bunch of unenlightened rednecks?

  15. Answer - because "democracy" can easily be manipulated by mob politics which play to the ignorant and uneducated, as exemplified throughout history (starting with Ancient Greece) - the current era of Republican victories in the US being only the most recent example.

Winning elections under such conditions has little to do with validating the intelligence of the victorious portion of the electorate....

That may have been true in ancient Greece when people only knew what they were told. However, today I believe it's exactly the opposite. Americans in general are more informed today than they have ever been. They no longer are spoon fed only the news that the media deems them entitled to know.

People now get both sides of the issues. They have access to information that has previously been unavailable. Americans now go to the polls more educated than they have ever been.

OK, ask 'em to point out Iraq on a map. You can even tell them which continent it's on.

I agree with your premise, but my point is if one were to want to find Iraq on a map he/she would simply look on Mapquest.

People may have the best access to information ever, but I don't think they're capable of using it. In order for differing accounts to be of use, one must have the capacity for critical thinking. I see nothing that leads me to believe that most people have any more training in this regard than at any other period in history.

What evidence do you have that they don't?

Regardless, why is it your assumption that people need to be "trained" to think for themselves?

This attitude is why the Left is so out of touch.
