Greetings all, For those who remember me, I'm sorry I have been away for so long. I know its been a while. I'm still with Capella University, now in my 10th quarter, and almost done with the course work where I can start my clinical phase of the MHC program. I've managed to maintain a 4.00 GPA the whole time, and up until October of 2010 I was going full time. I'm in my second to last quarter of of primary coursework before the clinical phase. Also, today, (the 19th at the time of this writing), I am turning 40 years old. I feel a mixed of depression and a sense of somewhat calming acceptance (though more the former at the moment than the latter). Thus begins midlife. I feel nauseous already. Officially I was born at 8:23PM (ET), so my first impulse is to go through my day kicking and screaming like a six year old in a candy store. In any event, I am doing well. I just wanted to share it with all you. I will keep in touch as much as possible. Be well. Shawn
Happy birthday! Glad to hear you're doing well. I will be facing the same dilemma (turning 40) in exactly 21 months from now. Wow, that's not far off... My goal was to have a masters degree completed before turning 40. Better get my act together!
40? Life BEGINS at 40!!! I remember turning 40 (almost 8 years ago!) and honestly I haven't looked back!! These are what happened to me after turning 40 1) Finished MBA 2) Finished MEd 3) Found a new hobby (besides school) ... RUNNING ... and 2 months after my 40th birthday I ran my first marathon to commemorate and celebrate my 40th year ... since then I've compLeted (the L is important) 18 of 'em! 4) Found the BEST job in the world (that I have now) 5) Applying (now) for my PhD ... (Just for the record I quit gym in Grade 10 and was NOT in ANY way shape or form athletic in High School). At 40 generally you can say you've achieved some measure of career success, have generally figured out "who" you are and have some financial stability ... so ... the world is your oyster! Enjoy!!!!!!
Happy Birthday Shawn! I am at Capella too; hope to finish my degree in 2 1/2 years. I'll turn into 40 in 13 years!
Thanks for the well wishes. Yeah, I was hoping to have my degrees finished by the time I was 25, 26. Life just did not work out that way.
