I am one of the few degree mill critics over there. Should I quit that public service and abandon ship to the St Regis boys.

Nobody else here has enough balls to straighten out things over there. They just whine like schoolgirls from the safety of degreeinfo. Pitiful boys, pitiful.

 

No dennis not all of us. I sent several month over there, but it wasn't worth it. They all want to believe want to believe. Since there is no fear of moderation they say and do as they please. They don't listen to you, and from what I have seen all you do is fight with this Zen person. Personally it is my opinion that if you don't give them any ammo they have nothing to shoot.

 

I went over, and still do. When a poor sole actually posts something that is related to DL, I try to respond with an answer. They usually do not post over 1 posting, as they realize it is not an education site.

I also posted a question or two, and was told I needed to find out information from Rich, Bear, etc. before I could get my questions answered. I seemed to go around in circles.

Actually, one of the frequent posters that seem to be in the horrible discussion replied to my postings, very respectfully, and discussed why degree mills are OK in his opinion. I was interesting to at least understand a different perspective. But then, rather quickly the vulgarity started again, and personal attacks. Very sad.

You make is sound like you're over there fighting the good fight. This utterly ignores the many personal attacks you've made, comments that would not be tolerated here. (Here, it is your vast array of unsupported hyperbole that is tolerated.)

As for any attempt to "straighten out things over there," that is equally absurd. First, there is no "there" there. It is a website for the deranged and those who chose to engage them in conversation. Second, the worst of them (difficult to determine, I know) don't operate from any semblance of logic or desire to determine the facts. "Straightening" them out would be like nailing Jello to the wall. Finally, what for? I used to do it on a.e.d. Some spammer would print a lie, I'd counter it, the spammer (and friends) would just print more lies (along with re-printing the original lies).

The spammers didn't kill a.e.d. Degreeinfo killed a.e.d. by giving decent people a place to exchange ideas with some semblance of civility enforced. That left a.e.d. to the deranged, and the deranged with no more victims. So they went elsewhere. CollegeHints and Online-College, for example.

Engaging these people (too kind of a word, IMHO) even one iota is like pouring gas on an open flame. Better to give them their little corner of hell and be done with them.

 

That post was out of line, the moderators show remove it and ban "Marco LaVerdura" (translation: Mark TheVegetable).

 

These poor soles are indeed fish out of water.

 

What more needs to be said about a forum (this applies equally to Online-College and CollegeHints) than Dennis Ruhl is the most (or one of the most) knowledgeable, restrained, ethical, eloquent, and socially adept member?

Your attempts at characterizing your involvement as some kind of public service notwithstanding, the truth is that you excel at vexing and commoving others, fomenting disagreements and arguments, spurring on anti-social behavior, and bringing out the worst in individuals who appear to have psychological disorders that border on the pathological. Your attempts to distance yourself just enough so that no direct blame can be ascribed to you, however, have become increasingly transparent, and are consequently being met with a decreasing measure of success.

You aren’t “straightening out” anything. The fact remains that only four individuals (one of them being you) account for the vast majority of posts on Online-College, and you have yet to publicly disagree with any of the other three. Moreover, contrary to your assertion, the most prolific posters on Online-College do not post on DegreeInfo, as they have been (justifiably) banned. However, the same individuals (under the same or different names) also post on CollegeHints (a forum that supports, and is supported by, degree mills), but I don’t see you “straightening out” anyone over there either.

And as to testicular fortitude, instead of engaging the mental equivalent of 90-pound weaklings (the St.Regis shills), why don’t you voice your opposition the egregious comments being posted by your friends concerning Mark Israel? As you have chosen to assume a leadership role on Online-College, why don’t you employ some of those (allegedly) Brobdingnagian Ruhl cojones you have alluded to, and, instead of picking on some easy targets, chastise your friends for their asinine behavior?

This is an interesting, albeit characteristic, comment, Dennis. Is this what you call an attempt to “straighten out” things? It seems to me nothing more than your usual efforts to ingratiate yourself with your friends the bobbleheads at CollegeHints and the psychos at Online-College (which, incidentally, as everyone knows, are the same individuals).

Calling the members of this forum cowardly whiners (never mind the sexist overtones) while simultaneously casting yourself in the role of the brave champion fending off the onslaught of degree mill proponents is laughable. If this scenario even remotely resembled reality, you would have been vilified on Online-College (not just by one or two logically-challenged degree mill shills, but by also by the other prolific posters on that forum). Moreover, as these same individuals are also the most influential and prolific posters on CollegeHints (where their behavior is only slightly more restrained) you would also have been banned from that forum long ago.

You are not, as you claim, Dennis, waging a battle against “THEM;” you are “THEM.”

Dennis, I did believe your posting here, since I do not remember you cursing, But then I checked today and saw the latest you just posted yesterday, shame on you! Maybe sombody captured you sign on, like the "John Bear" sign on, which is obviously not him...... tell me it is so, there must be a reasonable explaination.

It's interesting who are the people most interested in my posting elsewhere. It's Rich and Gus who are banned on every moderated forum but this one. The cost of not banning them here has been dozens of dropped and banned members.

Selling education here is easy under the moderators protection. It isn't so easy out in the real world.

 

As always, Dennis, you're in error. I've been banned from exactly two: the K-WU Pub and CollegeHints. I'm proud of both, of course. Just as you are judged by the company you keep, I hope I am judged by the enemies I make. They seem to have a common trait.

This statement, like most everything you write, simply isn’t true. I have been officially banned (without so much as a warning, I might add) at only one forum, CollegeHints, and that was the result, Dennis, as you well know, of a concerted effort on the part you and your cronies.

In total, I made less than 30 posts on CollegeHints. Interestingly, the owner himself responded to my third post on that forum (he had not yet appointed a moderator) with a series of vicious personal attacks that in no way related to my post (see here). It was almost as if he cut-and-pasted comments from emails he received as a consequence of my appearing on that forum. So it seems (as I could’ve foretold) that my membership was doomed from the start. This is not surprising, as it was you, Dennis, who first observed about CollegeHints, “The degree mill guys seem to own the place.”

Anyone reviewing the posts on that forum will see that neither Rich, nor I violated the TOS of that forum, nor were we abusive or impolite in any way. Rich and I were banned because we posted facts and opinions that were backed by evidence. As these facts and opinions contradicted what was being posted by the core group of posters (who also post on Online-College, where, without the oversight of a moderator, they reveal their true nature) and, in many cases, proved intentional deceit on their part, the moderator (who professes to have a close friendship with some of these individuals) thought it best to ban Rich and I rather than see his friends publicly humiliated.

The moderator’s friends do as they please on College-Hints with impunity. The personal attacks on Rich and Dr. Bear (among others) on College-Hints continue unabated and have become progressively less subtle and less veiled. The owner of College Hints has an agenda (ad revenue) and the moderator has no choice but to permit attacks on anyone who might jeopardize this agenda. As I know that the moderator of CollegeHints is also a member (under a different name) of this forum (guess where the vast majority of distance education information he posts on that forum is culled from?), he is free to respond here if he wishes.

So Rich and I are responsible for the banning of dozens of members from DegreeInfo? Would you care to explain who was banned undeservedly, how this was accomplished, and why? On second thought, never mind. You NEVER answer any questions posed to you; you simply spew cockamamie accusations willy-nilly.

So now you’re selling education? Is that what you call what you do? Would someone selling toilet paper choose to dive into a cesspool and attempt to sell it to the turds?

You get the idea. And all of them (except Suhar?) also post at Online-College in under one name or another--or many. Both sites are designed with one thing in mind: traffic. Fine, but both allow ridiculous behavior that those "people" wouldn't get away with in person.

Dennis, do you believe the outlandish claims that you write? Perhaps you are just trying to incite people with these kinds of posts that only have a most thin connection to reality? (Dennis has admitted to making posts simply to incite and infuriate others.)

It should be against the TOS to fabricate so often.
