I continue to think that Obama was just speaking out of his butt in Colorado Springs, trying to sound tough on security issues without his words necessarily being taken literally. Of course, that suggests that the words were just empty rhetoric.

I don't think that it's "paranoia" to assume that a political candidate actually means what he says. Taking a speaker's statments seriously is probably more respectful than just shrugging his words off as hyperbole.

Now that he's been elected President, I can only hope that Obama speaks more carefully in the future.

You might be best advised to take your own advice, Jim. Tossing an insult-bomb at Sarah Palin only subverts your own attempt to assume the high-ground in this thread.
