I've used my master's and doctorate in some situations, but I've since gone to just using the Ph.D. And that's for professional purposes only. In personal ones, I go without.

I used to list the MBA because I felt, at the time, it should be distinctly noted. But now I feel it's no big deal; the Ph.D. will do.

I'm about to earn a professional certification, so I'll have to decide again whether or not to list it with the Ph.D. I'm inclined to do so, since it is distinct from the doctorate. We'll see.

Another concern about postnominalosis is that it can kill one's chances at getting a paid gig if it's too long....

Well, that's easy! If you're looking for a position as a businessman or business professor you mention the DBA. If you're looking for a wife or a girlfriend, you mention that you're a certified massage practitioner.

Whatever's of large enough point to make the bearer feel conspicuous, I'd assume.
