I think that message here is not that God is out to get your great-grandchildren, but that your effect will still be felt by your great-grandchildren. This point about the third and fourth generations comes up with psychologists who study the cycle of abuse.

    Janko,

Since the good Rev. Dr. Falwell is a Baptist, he has no sacraments, only two ordinances. - Ted.

I forget which pop psychologist says this, but in order for a man to feel like a real man he needs a few dragons to slay. And, God knows, liberals need to prove that they're not just girly-men.

Riding the coat-tails of a saintly old mother, grandmother, or great-grandmother will only get one so far. Eventually one has to stand up like a real man (or real woman) and stand on one's own. Of the twenty-some Davidic kings of Judah, only five, I believe, were godly. But yet nevertheless God preserved the house of David and made them the ancestors of one who is acknowledged by some as the Messiah. I think what that means is that the children of godly parents will be more likely to become godly themselves (or at least, by force of inertia, will have an easier time of it than the children of ungodly parents) and that God, in His infinite mercy, will stay judgment upon the ungodly children of the godly, even if only for the sakes of the parents.

Hello! The Lord disciplines those whom He loves! If He didn't love you, He would let you run pell mell straight to Hell anytime you please! Sheesh!

Whatever one thinks of the Rev. Falwell, I still think that anyone thinking about law school should consider Liberty U. The school wasn't yet ABA accredited last time I checked but there's no reason to think that the folks at LU won't achieve accreditation in due course before the school graduates its first class of J.D.s

And as private law schools go, LU looks to be pretty cheap.

<<If the God of the Bible is only loving and non-violent, as Jimmy here seems to have said, sorry if I'm wrong in interpreting you Jimmy, then the person referenced in Carl's original post ,who said the God of the Bible punished America, must be incorrect. If God does not punish, then Falwell MUST be wrong! >>

Love without discipline is only kindness. If you love your children, don't you discipline them? It's for their own good. It helps to shape them and steer them in a proper direction. To view God only as a God of kindness is to ignor His love...and His wrath.

Without exception, every environmental science professor I've met has been motivated far more by politics than science (and believe me, I've met many). A common ploy they use is to blame natural phenomenon on anthropogenic factors. For example, a few years ago, there was a widespread outbreak of an insect in Kentucky forests which causes spectacular yellowing late in the growing season. Such outbreaks have occured on 8-10 cycles for eons. They are of little consequence, since the growing season is already nearly over when they appear. A famous environmental science professor from an Ohio college declared the damage to be "caused by acid rain" and pointed to coal-fired power plants along the Ohio River as the source. Of course, the media ate it up. Similarly, there is an introduced insect in the Appalachians which has virtually wiped out a certain tree species at higher elevations. Environmental "scientists" credit global warming, and an accomodating press is more than happy to play along. I could give you many, many, many similar stories of DELIBERATE distortion of facts. The American people have absolutely no idea about what is going on in their environment. I can't speak to specifically Evergreen College, since I know none of the faculty there. But if it is typical of colleges that teach environmental science in the United States, I am afraid your daughter is being spoonfed some serious fecal matter.
