My apologies, Kizmet, if my comment made it seem as if I was questioning the Terms of Service as that was not my intention.

It does not bother me at all that you're asking questions. I did not write the TOS, I inherited it. I do not see it as a perfect document but I have no authority to change it. I gave Chips contact info because it really is ok to ask him questions on this or any other subject. Most often he appears to be an absentee landlord but I believe he checks his mail.

I didn't complain. That was not at all the tone of my response. I made an observation. But your citation of the TOS made it clear that the OP was NOT advertising, and I appreciate the clarification.

I disagree on both points. Stop being a bag of dicks

He's not. And that was an exceptionally disagreeable way to disagree.

Let's recap. Chris posts an ad which is clearly a TOS violation (regardless of Rich's opinion). I politely tell him not to do it again and now I'm the bad guy? OK, so maybe I'm right and maybe I'm wrong but the most important piece for me is that right now I don't care to argue about it. It's a sort of "straw that broke the camels back" sort of thing. Moderating this board has shifted from being a pleasure to being a chore and at this point I really don't need the aggravation. So I'm going to take a little pandemic vacation and see how it feels. Try not to burn down the house and don't let the corona get you.

Based on the foregoing discussion, my post was not a TOS violation. There's no commercial or individual gains involved. It's like a true or false question, if any part of the statement is false, the answer is false. E.g., Barack Obama served as president of the U.S. from 2009-2017 and he was born in California. The first half is true but the second half is wrong. So, the answer would have to be false. It's the same with the TOS, it said no ads (fine..) for commercial or individual gains (who's getting that?) Chris might need to check his accounts to see if there are any deposits from Rush University.

    Btw, enjoy your vacay :)

I've been on here since November 2, 2014. I've posted 972 messages (this will be 973), received 180 likes, and have 43 trophy points (63 soon, once I hit 1,000 messages). I think I'm "well-established" on here.

Please show some manners. I would never speak to you like that.

You provided the information that changed my mind regarding whether or not the post construed advertising. But it doesn't matter what I think. You continuously make it clear that yours is the only opinion to have.

But I will offer one other opinion: your post is a violation of the TOS and you should suspend yourself for 30 days.

No. You're the bad guy when you cannot admit you made the same mistake I did (and admitted), then followed it up with a vulgar ad hominem followed by a "take my ball and go home" statement.

Yours are some of the most joyful posts to be found here, and you launch a terribly large number of really good discussions. I cannot imagine this being a better board without you. But your feeling negative about the experience stems directly from your own comments. No one attacked you, but some did disagree with you. I do not know how you can even be a participant--much less a moderator--if you cannot handle the idea that others might not agree with what you say and do.

Full disclosure: Kizmet suspended my account for 30 days a few years ago because I took public a comment she made to me in a PM. I decided to take a break that lasted 2 years. I thought she was wrong to do that. What I did wasn't horrible and she way over-reacted. (With Levicoff's recent disappearance I wonder if he got the same treatment. But that is mere speculation so pay it no mind.) But I'm not one to hold a grudge and can't even remember what was the basis of our disagreement. I'm sorry she's decided to go into exile and I hope it won't be for long. But I will do the same and not post until she returns. If never, then never. Peace.

Maybe it's me, but having been a member for a few years now, I am amazed at how such an educated group of people get sideways at times, and how much disrespect comes out among members. I have lots of respect for most members. It does, however, get wearisome at times to watch so many legitimate discussions degenerate. I think of all the good that has been accomplished through DegreeInfo and I've benefited from it. Still...

As I said, maybe it's just me :(

Looking forward to your return (Kismet and Rich) since you both contribute so much! I've also learned a lot from Steve L too!

Sorry I don't see this as advertising either...but rather networking. Given that teaching is an aspiration of many on this board sharing opportunities should be embraced not frowned upon. My daughter is pretty much done with her MPH in Environmental Health degree program from UW-Seattle and just needs to present her thesis defense (schedule online now for May 1). I've been trying to encourage her to think about online teaching opportunities as well since the non-profit she presently works pays ok but not great. Any rate I'm going to share this opportunity with her.

Chris, does Rush University post opportunities on sites like ? If so, maybe if a similar opportunity exist in the Fall she'll have her degree credentials by then and can watch for future postings.

It's been six years since had a class in Epi and BioStats so I gonna past (if you don't use it you lose it).

No, I decided quite a while back to fully retire from DegreeInfo - Kiz had nothing to do with it. But unlike some people around here (Rich, Chris, Jan, and the also-departed sanantone come to mind), I know how to ignore people and don't feel the need to respond to every criticism (nor the need to always get in the last word). As for Kiz' treatment, she's been crapping on me for months. But I've always said that if you can't stand the heat, etc. I've recently sensed that she's going through some burnout, which has led to her crapping on quite a few people. But to her credit, she appears to realize that and is now taking a well-deserved break.

As for why I made the decision to move on from DI, I may address that at some point. Or I may not. I've pretty much left y'all behind already.

But for the sake of humor, I'll leave y'all with a happy memory: When Rich was banned, as he discussed above, it was a result of his posts in this thread - (and the following two pages, resuting in the ban, which was well-deserved). Fun reading.

    Well... wow.

I guess we were overdue for a rage quit thread. Both Kizmet and Rich have taken time off before, and both have found their way back, so I wouldn't worry too much that we might have seen the last of them.

The TOS can at times be a matter of interpretation, and there is a bit of leeway for established members. Basically, what we don't want is for people to flood the site with spam or to use it as their own personal billboard. I don't think this thread violates the spirit of the rules, so I'll leave it be for now. If it somehow, someway, becomes a problem, I will either close the thread or bring it up to Chip to make the final call, whichever seems best at that time.

Side note: I was surprised to learn that chrisjm18 had been around for 6 years, since I only remember seeing him within the last 2 or so. Looking at his posting history makes sense of it- he posted very sparsely for the first half of his time here, and has continued to post more and more frequently, with about 80% of his posts coming in the last year alone. Such is the cycle of addiction. :emoji_imp:

You're full of crap, Steve L. We're so important that you had to mention us in your post on DD. Anyway, who cares about the reason you've left. Good riddance!

So, no more abusive assholish alliterative insults? I guess I can live with that. Oh wait. He does not care anyway. My bad.
