Summary: Author who went to two elite universities and whose day job is helping international students get into elite universities laments that elite universities now have a channel that makes it easy to earn a degree from them.
To be quite honest, give me access to the professors utilized on campus and the degree that says MBA or MS and I could care less how I was recruited. At the end of the day, the degree is just a stepping stone towards ones goals.
Exclusivity in admissions doesn't necessarily correlate with the quality of the education--or even the degree. But some feel the need to pump up themselves by keeping others down (or, in this case, out). "I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member." -- Groucho Marx I taught at the University of Phoenix for three years. For the first year I was a full-time employee (college campus chair), then as an adjunct for two additional years. The MBA was pretty much open-admission. If you had a bachelor's degree, you got in. But for all my criticism of UoP--and I've got a LOT of complaints--if you completed the MBA, you got a great education.
