I had to retake two classes at CCU from my MBA because my GPA was to low. I hate accounting and business law and got C's. I retook both to get B's and I think my final GPA was 3.08.

Vandy has some convoluted system of "Superior Pass", "High Pass", "Pass", "Low Pass" and "Fail". You could only get a few (i believe 3) grades of "Low Pass" before you were asked to leave (I don't know of anyone that ever was). I graduated with an average of "High Pass". That would be equivalent to an A-/B+ average.
UNC Chapel Hill uses a similar system to Vandy.
HBS uses grades of 1,2,3 and 4.

In reply to MC, the everybody gets at least a B grading we are discussing doesn't apply across all graduate programs, it is a phenomenon primarily seen in MBA programs.

Last I checked a D is passing in undergrad. I got a D in one of my classes my final term at Auburn, it was a course required to graduate from the business school and I still graduated. I had to answer questions about that course on everyone of my MBA interviews.

Our students must maintain at 3.0 or higher GPA and are not allowed to have more than two courses with a grade of "C". Students who receive more than two "Cs" or receive any "Ds" or "Fs" must repeat courses.
