  1. Hi folks,

I frequented here and at alt.ed.distance from 1994 to around 2003.

Is anyone here familiar with people who have received an honorary doctorate using the title "Dr" in front of their name?

I have found the following university policies against doing such a thing, but I recently came across someone doing it and it bothered me. The great prophet Dr. Steve Levicoff used to call it "puffing one's credentials".

See sample of university policies, as researched by college professor Warren Throckmorton:

Hi, Earon. Great to hear from you. When I saw the name on the thread, I wondered who necromanced it! Kizmet, naturally, beat us to the link; I think it's a good one on the topic.

Dr. Kavanaugh, great to see a post from you. I used to read stuff from you reference CPU and refutation of some of the alleged issues. You have been very successful. Congratulations on your PhD (from a well ranked and respected University) and your career. You came across as very intelligent and measured.
