While the site states that one needs a .gov or .mil email address to enroll, this is actually not correct. If your supervisor, presumably with a .mil or .gov address with vouch for you, it is possible that you will be permitted to register and take courses. This might be a necessary for a civilian volunteer, for example CERT, supervised by a government agency.

    Great list and getting better!

However, my browser alerts me that this site is a reported attack site:

I checked out the George Washington University site before posting and again today. There is no problem with the site, and all material can be accessed with ease.

    Hm, Firefox tells me:

This may be an overreaction on Google's part, but I would a little before using the site nevertheless.

Hey Michael, thanks for all the great information! I had a question for you, I'm curious how many of these fema/certificate courses you were able to get credit for towards your homeland security degree?

I never entered a Homeland Securty degree program. I did have 38 FEMA Independent Study course added to my TESC credit bank account for 39 semester credit hours. I did transfer the FEMA credits from TESC to Excelsior while getting my Bachelor of Criminal Justice degree at Excelsior. I got credit for three National Fire Academy courses. With all the free Air Force, Marine Corps, Army, and Coast Guard correspondence courses I could get for credit, I kind of quit trying to put stuff on my college transcript after having 250 undergraduate hours on transcripts. Most of the certificate courses, not all, that I complete now are not worth college credit, but are done to cover requirements for positions I hold at various organizations. Organizations that are looking for exact courses to be taken that are government reviewed and approved and are not really interested in what version of a course some college might offer or put together and call a degree program. I also do many just to gain the knowledge and stay current of what is being taught in emergency management, disaster services, criminal justice, etc.

    Kentucky Terrorism Response and Preparedness

The Kentucky Emergency Medical Services for Children has a new free web-based course offering which can be found at:

    http://www.kiprc.uky.edu/trap/peds2/index.html

The name of the course is “Childhood Injury Prevention for Prehospital Care Providers”. You will be provided with a basic understanding of the mechanics of injury, and the factors which determine the nature and severity of injury in both general and specific terms. In addition, you will be introduced to the concept of injury as a preventable disease with significant socioeconomic impact within the United States. You will then be provided with general concepts of injury prevention, and how these concepts can be applied by prehospital providers to reduce childhood injury. Finally, you will be given the tools to act as an advocate for the injury prevention within the two most commonly seen mechanisms of serious childhood injury; motor vehicle crashes and bicycle-related injury.

One option could be the Act-Online program, discovered of cause by Michael:
    https://www.act-online.net/index.php?option=com_matrix&Itemid=100

Cyber Law and White Collar Crime
    Cyber Incident Analysis and Response
    Digital Forensics Basics
I guess it's not really exactly what you are looking for, but still with some relevance to the field.

These courses are available, at no cost, to persons who are not citizens of the USofA after submitting an application to the Department of Homeland Security. I submitted my application on 01 August 2009 and finally received notification of approval on 14 October 2009.

The certificates are relatively nice in appearance though the size makes them somewhat unwieldy for printing due to the size. The University of Memphis offers CEU certificates as well. Does anyone know whether the CEU certificates look like the certificates issued at the ACT Online web site and are printed and sent by postal mail? I am just wondering if the USD25.00 fee for the CEUs is worth it. Alternatively, how can I scale the downloadable certificates so as to be able to print them on 8.5-inch x 11-inch paper?

As 'punisher' said these certificate courses make a great addition to the resume. The pre-qualification examination for each course is very helpful and if you score well on the pre-qualification examination you skip directly to earning the certificate. So far, two certificates earned by way of the pre-qualification examinations. By the end of this week I should have five (5) courses completed including the three (3) listed above. These courses nicely complement and reinforce the material covered in the Computer Forensics & Digital Investigations professional certificate programme offered by Champlain College. Thank you for locating this great resource, Michael.
